This is a one shot. :) Hope you like it.
*****
It was cold outside when they got into the car. The driver of the car, Benjamin, started to talk to his fiancée when she turned the music on higher.
“I like your necklace,” she said, looking down at Ben’s neck. “It’s a heart! Whose picture do you have in it?”
“Nobodies yet. You wouldn’t let me take your picture!”
She laughed.
After a couple of minutes, a news man came on.
“Hey, that’s my brother!” she said, tugging on her mans’ shirt.
“I didn’t know you had a brother.”
She put a hand on his arm.
“I have two brothers and one sister,” she explained. “One brother is on the radio and my other one is addicted to cigarettes—”
“Really?”
“Well, not anymore. He’s doing better now.”
He looked at the road. “What about your sister?”
“She’s married to a rich man so she doesn’t work.”
“Lucky her,” he mumbled.
They drove silently until they got to the girls’ families house. When they got out, they were ambushed by her family.
“Oh my god!” said her mother, putting her arms around him.
“Mom!” the woman shouted.
“What, Fran? You picked a good man to marry!”
Ben smiled.
“Oh, yeah, mom! This is Benjamin but just call him Ben.”
The mom smiled. “Nice to meet you, Ben!”
Ben looked over at the house, thinking that it will catch his attention, but something else did. A man holding a cigarette was leaning against the wall of the house, his shirt wrinkled.
Fran looked up at Ben.
“That’s Jeremiah. He’s the one addicted to cigarettes.”
Ben frowned. “I can tell.”
“Come in guys! You are probably getting warm out here!”
Ben was the last one to go in the house so Jeremiah followed behind him.
They sat in the living room, a man and a woman coming downstairs to join them.
“Ben this is my sister Abbey and her husband, Marcus.”
“Nice to meet you,” Ben said, getting up to let Abbey sit.
He leaned his back against the wall, next to Jeremiah.
“So how long do you know each other, Ben?” the woman asked.
Marcus laughed. “Come on now, Evelyn!”
Evelyn smiled. “I’m just interested, that’s all.”
Ben and Fran exchanged glances.
“Well, we met when we ran into each other at the hospital.”
Evelyn blinked. “Oh, that’s good…”
“Not very interesting is it, ma?” Jeremiah said with an accent deep.
“Hey! At least I am getting married! You’re the oldest sibling and you never even had a girlfriend!” Fran shouted.
“Maybe he’s gay,” Ben mumbled.
Jeremiah elbowed him in the ribs.
“Ow! Why the hell did you do that for?”
He put the cigarette in his mouth and then blew the smoke out.
“Mom, where’s Josh and dad?” Fran asked.
“They went out to get cake.”
“Ben loves cake! Don’t you sweetie?”
“Yeah, I guess?”
Fran frowned.
“How about Jeremiah show you to your room, Ben?” Evelyn said adding, “Actually, we don’t have a lot of rooms so you will be sleeping with Jeremiah.”
“He doesn’t smoke at night, right?”
“Shut up,” he growled.
Ben shrugged, grabbed his suitcase, and followed Jeremiah upstairs.
They got into the medium sized room; two beds were pushed together with a small tablet in between. There were two doors, one leading to the bathroom and the other to the closet.
Jeremiah threw his cigarette in the trash bin before lying on the bed nearest to the window.
Ben put his suitcase on the other bed and took out a necklace.
He looked at Jeremiah and then down at the necklace deciding to give it to Josh instead.
After Ben put the gold necklace back in the suitcase, Jeremiah mumbled, “You seem to be in deep thought.”
Ben looked up. “Um? Yeah, I guess.”
“Regretting proposing to my sister?”
Ben shook his head, fiercely. “No!”
Jeremiah nodded.
There was a knock on the door and Fran came in.
“Honey, mom is asking what you would like for dinner?”
Ben smiled. “You know I like anything, sweetie.”
“Then pot roast it is!” she shouted, heading back out.
“I was wishing that you would have told her chicken,” Jeremiah murmured.
“Why? You don’t like pot roast?”
“I don’t.”
Ben headed back to the door, saying, “Then I’ll tell her—”
Jeremiah grabbed his arm and pushed him onto the bed.
“It’s alright, Benjamin.”
Ben frowned, looking up at him.
“Do you mind me asking you something?”
He shrugged, getting up and leaning his back against the door.
“How many cigarettes a day to you have?”
“I used to have two packs a day but now its three cigarettes and then next week or so it would be two and so on…”
“Is that working for you?”
“Well, last week when I forced my self to have three a day I went crazy.” Jeremiah frowned. “So next week, stay away from me for a day.”
Ben smiled. “So it is working for you.”
Jeremiah went over to Ben and whispered into his ear, “It’s killing me inside.”
Ben frowned and looked away.
“I’m going downstairs to help with the plates.”
Ben nodded.
They all sat down around the table, Fran sitting on Ben’s left side and Jeremiah on his other side. Evelyn sat there staring at Ben and Jeremiah when they stared a conversation.
Ben looked up at Evelyn.
“Are you sick, Evelyn?”
She picked up her fork.
“I’m just surprised that Jeremiah is talking without yelling at someone.”
Jeremiah looked down and Ben saw that he was blushing.
“So, Ben,” Josh asked, bringing his attention up to him. “Are you a doctor like Fran?”
Fran smiled. “I’m the doctor he’s the nurse!”
Everyone but Ben laughed.
He crossed his arms. “It’s not funny. I really like the job.”
Fran put an arm around him.
“Come on, honey. You laughed when you told me!”
Ben smiled. “Yeah, I guess I did.”
After a couple of minutes of pure silence, Ben asked, “Josh, are you married?”
Everyone looked at him and he crawled backed into his seat.
“Yeah, I have a little girl. They couldn’t come because of my wifes’ job and Demy goes to school.”
“Who choose the name Demy? I like it.”
“Jeremiah did.”
Ben glared at him. “Him?”
Jeremiah put the fork half way to his mouth.
“Yes, him!” he growled.
“I thought you would have named her after a cigarette company or something,” Ben joked.
“I would kill him if he did!” Josh laughed.
Jeremiah glared at Ben.
After dinner, Ben tried to help but they told him to get unpacked.
He went upstairs and saw Jeremiah holding onto the golden necklace.
“This necklace is really beautiful,” he said, breaking it.
“Hey!” Ben shouted, trying to grab the necklace.
Jeremiah pushed him onto the bed, placing his hands on Ben’s wrists.
“Jeremiah!”
“I’m trying to get my families trust again!” he whispered into Ben’s ear. “Benjamin, I bet you ruined it with that stupid joke.”
“I didn’t know.”
“You knew. You’re a nurse, you never heard of stories of people losing their family because they smoke or do drugs?”
Ben nodded.
“Well, I lost my family. I just got them back a month ago after five years. You wouldn’t ruin it, you hear?”
Ben’s eyes widened.
“Benjamin? Are you alright?”
Ben shook his head and said, “Y-Yeah.”
Jeremiah got up and started to pick up the pieces of the necklace.
“I had a brother who died from lung cancer three years ago.”
Jeremiah looked up at Ben sitting on the edge of the bed.
“You’re lying.”
Ben covered his face with his hands.
“Also, my father before that.”
Feeling very sick, Jeremiah put the necklace on the dresser and then went over to get another cigarette. He grabbed a pack and started to take one out.
“How many would that be?”
“Four.”
Ben quickly got up and grabbed the pack out of Jeremiah’s hands. He then ran out of the room, Jeremiah behind him.
Ben laughed as he ran and when he looked back, he saw Jeremiah chasing after him.
That’s when he tripped and felt a hand grab his arm.
They both fell into the pool with the cigarettes.
“Ben! Jeremiah!” Fran shouted.
They both came up, wrestling.
Ben pushed Jeremiah away, laughing.
“Ben!” Fran shouted. “Jeremiah!!”
Ben looked up at Fran, who was pointing in the water.
“Ben, Jeremiah is drowning!”
He quickly went under water and pulled up Jeremiah.
Fran helped him get him out of the water.
“He’s not breathing!” Fran shouted.
Their mom came out, screaming.
Ben went to his side and breathed into Jeremiah’s mouth. When he breathed in a second time, his body tensed.
Jeremiah woke up, spitting out a lot of water.
“Are you alright, honey?” Evelyn asked, putting her arms around him.
“I-I’m f-fine…”
“Thank goodness Ben was here!” Fran said. “You wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t here...” She trailed off.
Jeremiah got up, carefully, but lost his balance.
Ben grabbed him around his waist and helped him to his feet.
“Maybe you should go to bed,” Evelyn said.
Jeremiah nodded.
“Let me—”
Jeremiah interrupted Ben. “I can go myself.”
Ben let go and they watched Jeremiah limp upstairs.
Fran got a towel and put it around his shoulders.
When everyone went inside, Fran sat on Ben’s lap and kissed him on the lips.
“Honey,” Ben said, smiling. “If you really want to do something, why not go up to your room?”
She shook her head.
Ben laughed. “Alright.”
She cupped his face and kissed his lips again.
“I love you, Ben.”
Ben’s smile faded.
Fran frowned, got up and headed into the living room.
Ben sat there for a minute and then got up to find Fran.
She was sitting on the couch, drinking red wine.
“Fran.”
Fran looked up.
Ben sat next to her, put her wine glass, and then pushed her on the couch, kissing her.
“Get a room,” Marcus said, passing through the living room to get to the kitchen.
Ben got up and drank the rest of Frans’ wine.
“It’s getting late. I’m going to go to bed,” Fran said, kissing Ben on the cheek before heading upstairs.
Ben went upstairs and went into his and Jeremiah’s room. Jeremiah was lying on his bed, sleeping.
Ben went into the shower and after he put his pajamas on before slipping into bed.
After a couple of hours, Ben felt someone sit on his bed.
He opened his eyes and looked up at Jeremiah staring at him.
Jeremiah placed one hand across him and rested it on the bed.
“What’s the matter, Jeremiah?”
“I didn’t mean to wake you up…”
“You’re lying.”
He nodded. “I just wanted to say thank you for saving me.”
Ben nodded, closing his eyes.
“Oh, I wanted to ask you something too.”
Ben opened one eye.
“Did you do my sister yet?”
Ben blinked. “W-What?!”
He frowned. “Do you want me to ask Fran?”
“No!”
“Then answer the damn question.”
“Well, we have been going out for a year… so you would think we did do something.”
“You don’t have HIV right?”
“Jeremiah!” he shouted, angrily. “Get the hell away from me and let me sleep!”
Jeremiah smiled and went back to his bed.
*****
Ben woke up early to take a shower. When he got out, Jeremiah was sitting on his bed, reading a book. Ben pushed Jeremiah to the edge of the bed and sat down next to him.
“What are you doing?”
“What does it look like I’m doing?” Jeremiah growled.
Ben pinched his arm.
“Benjamin, why did you do that for?”
“Are you always cranky in the morning?”
He nodded. “I didn’t have my morning cigarette yet.”
Ben got up and grabbed a cigarette pack. He took one out and threw it to Jeremiah. He then sat back down next to him, handing him the lighter.
Jeremiah stared at him. “You were the first person to give me one.”
“A thank you would be nice.”
After a couple of minutes, Jeremiah whispered thank you.
“Jeremiah! Ben! Breakfast is ready!” Fran said, banging on the door.
We both shot up.
“Alright, Fran!” Jeremiah hissed.
Ben lightly punched him in the shoulder before heading out of the room.
He followed him.
“Good to see you two,” Evelyn said, placing plates on the table.
Jeremiah looked down at his cigarette and then threw it out.
“Good job, Jeremiah,” Evelyn said, smiling. “You actually threw it out—”
“I threw it out because Benjamin gave it to me.”
I glared at him and he smiled back.
Evelyn pointed a fork at me.
“Don’t give my son a cigarette!”
“But—”
“No buts!”
Ben’s face grew red from embarrassment. He walked out to the pool area.
“Ma…” Jeremiah said, frowning. “I asked him to give it to me…”
Now Evelyn pointed a fork at him.
“If you want a cigarette—”
Jeremiah walked toward the door.
“Hey! I’m not done talking!”
He slammed the door behind him.
“Mom!” Abbey said, holding onto her stomach.
“Are you alright, sweetie?”
“I-I’m…”
Marcus walked up to her and put her arms around her.
“She’s pregnant.”
Fran and Evelyn started to dance.
“I’m going to be an aunt!”
“I’m going to be a grandma!”
*****
Meanwhile, Jeremiah sat down next to Ben by the edge of the pool.
“Why is your mom controlling your life?” Ben asked.
“Because I don’t have a woman to do that, so Ma is taking replace of a girlfriend.”
“Then try to find a girlfriend.”
Jeremiah shook his head. He took his shoes off and placed his feet into the water.
“I used to do drugs.”
Ben put a hand on his shoulder.
“You smoked and did drugs?”
“Yes. It was easier to get off of drugs because I was only doing it for a couple of days but when I tried to get off of smoking, I exploded.”
Ben frowned. “And why are you telling this to your sisters’ fiancé?”
“I trust you.”
“I don’t trust you.”
“No one does.”
Ben looked into the water.
“How old is your family?”
Jeremiah smiled. “I’m happy you changed the subject. Um…I’m twenty five, Abbey is twenty four, and Fran is twenty two—”
“Fran told me she was thirty.”
“She’s eight years off,” he said, adding, “Josh is twenty.”
Ben nodded. “You have a nice family.”
He ignored me. “What about you?”
“I’m twenty five, my brother was thirty, and my other brother is thirty six.”
“Ha-ha. You’re the youngest.”
Ben frowned. “Well, I was kind of an accident.”
Jeremiah burst out laughing.
“It’s not funny!”
“It is!”
Ben shoved him and he fell into the pool.
“Benjamin!” he shouted, grabbing onto his leg.
He pulled Ben down in the water with him and they both wrestled again.
“Bennnnn!” Fran shouted, looking over the edge of the pool.
They looked up at her, their hands on each others heads.
“Do you think that we will have a baby like Abbey?”
“Abbey’s pregnant?!” Jeremiah shouted, trying to get out of the pool.
He slipped and went underneath the water.
Fran and Ben laughed as he helped him out of the pool.
They lye on the ground, laughing.
“You two are clumsy,” Fran said, putting an arm around Ben.
Jeremiah sat up. “Thanks a lot, Benjamin. We’re soaking wet now.”
Ben grabbed Fran around the waist and brought her closer.
Jeremiah stared at them, frowning.
“You guys should stop fooling around and congratulate Abbey!” Jeremiah growled.
We broke apart and headed inside, dripping water on the floor.
“Oh, guys!” Evelyn shouted. “Get your clothes off!”
Jeremiah and Ben exchanged glances.
She sighed. “Go upstairs and change your clothes.”
“That’s better than what I was thinking,” Jeremiah mumbled.
Ben laughed and Jeremiah slapped him on the back of the head.
Abbey and Marcus exchanged glances.
“He’s actually not yelling at someone,” Josh said, with the dad in tow.
Jeremiah glared at him. “He gave me a cigarette.”
Ben sighed.
“You gave him a cigarette?!” Evelyn shouted, pointing her finger at Ben.
“No!” Ben shouted, punching Jeremiah’s arm. “Are you trying to get me in trouble?!”
“Yes. I’m trying to get you grounded.”
Ben sighed again.
Fran laughed. “He used to do that to me when we were younger.”
“You smoked when you were younger?” Ben asked.
Evelyn thought it was a statement and shouted, “JEREMIAH YOU SMOKED WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER?!”
Jeremiah shook his head.
“Of course not!” he said, running to the stairs.
Ben went to the stairs and turned back to Abbey.
“Congratulations on your baby!”
Abbey said thank you while Ben headed up the stairs.
Evelyn grabbed Frans’ arm.
“You better not get a divorce—” Evelyn looked from Fran to Abbey. “Oops, wrong daughter.”
She let go of Fran’s hands and locked them with Abbeys’.
“You’re getting too old, darling,” Evelyn’s husband said, smiling.
“Oh, Tom!”
Tom laughed.
*****
Ben threw the pillow at Jeremiah and it hit his cigarette, making it land on the floor.
“That would be your fifth!”
“So?”
Jeremiah went up to pick it back up but Ben grabbed his arm.
“Do you want me to go get Evelyn?”
Jeremiah grabbed Ben’s free hand.
“I’ll just blame it on you and then get you more in trouble!”
Someone came in, without knocking, and looked them up and down.
They let go.
“Were you two wrestling again or—”
“Jeremiah was trying to grab for another—”
“No! Benjamin gave me another one but I said no!”
They glared at each other as Josh spoke.
“Why are you always making up a lie Jeremiah? You used to be so trustworthy.”
Ben looked at Jeremiah, who was looking down at his feet.
*****
They all played games in the pool but they were ruined when Jeremiah and Ben started to fight. So everyone got out while Jeremiah and Ben splashed each other.
Fran put her feet into the water, smiling and watching them fight.
“What are you smiling about?” Jeremiah growled, splashing water at Ben.
“You two are funny!” she laughed.
Ben splashed her and she quickly got up.
“Don’t splash me!” she shouted, going into the house.
“You scared her away,” Jeremiah said, frowning.
Ben shrugged.
Just then, cold water went other their heads. They screamed and went underwater.
“Ha!” Fran shouted, jumping in the pool with the hose.
She started to spray it at them for fifteen minutes before Abbey turned the hose off. Abbey came over and grabbed the hose from her sisters’ hands.
“You’re paying the water bill this month!”
Jeremiah and Ben got out of the pool and sat down by the edge.
Fran went to the diving board and dived into the pool.
“You picked the nicest Anderson to marry,” Jeremiah said, kicking his feet in the water.
“You’re last name is Anderson?” Ben frowned. “Fran told me it was Kushner.”
“Kushner? No way!”
Ben sighed. “She lied about her age and her last name.”
“Don’t worry, she lied to everyone she dated.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
Jeremiah slapped Ben’s back.
“I’m very fond of you.”
Jeremiah got up and got another cigarette.
Ben held out his hand asking, “How many?”
Jeremiah sighed and handed him the cigarette.
“Hi! Are you two hungry?” Evelyn said from behind them.
Fran got out of the pool shouting, “I’m starving!”
“She has a lot of energy,” Ben smiled.
“You would know,” Jeremiah joked.
Ben glared at him before throwing the cigarette into the trash can.
“Get dry and then I’ll bring out lunch,” Evelyn said, going back into the house.
Fran threw them each a towel.
“Ben, you didn’t answer my question!”
Ben looked at her. “What question?”
“Do you think we will have a baby?”
“A baby?”
“Yes, a baby!”
Ben frowned. “Um… adoption?”
“Ben!” Fran shouted, crossing her arms.
“Okay! Maybe!”
Fran didn’t move.
“Okay, we’ll have a baby!”
“How soon?”
Jeremiah burst out laughing.
Ben glared at her. “What?”
“I love kids! I want a baby right now!”
Jeremiah was still laughing.
“Um… having a baby is a lot of responsibility…”
“You don’t want a baby!” Fran cried, running into the house.
Jeremiah got up, saying, “Good job, Benjamin!”
Ben punched his leg before getting up and heading inside.
Ben sat down on the bed, his arms behind his head. He thought for a second and then sighed.
“Jeremiah?” he said, looking over to Jeremiah reading a book.
He looked up. “Um?”
“Would it be okay if I…” he trialed off, feeling uncomfortable.
Jeremiah got up and sat next to him on the bed.
“What?”
“I want to break off my engagement with Fran.”
“No.”
Ben glared at him. “What?”
“Don’t break off your engagement with her!”
“But—”
Jeremiah stared at him. “Do you know how much that would hurt Fran?”
He shook his head.
“Then you don’t know her that well.”
“You were gone for five years—”
“You two only met a year ago!”
Ben crossed his arms and sighed.
Jeremiah touched his shoulder. “You don’t want children, is that it?”
He shook his head.
“Then what’s the matter?”
Ben sat up a little. “Nothing.”
“Then why are you breaking up the engagement?”
He sighed. “You’re not going to let it be?”
He shook his head. “Tell me right now or you’re not going to sleep tonight.”
Ben frowned. “Jeremiah, I’m in love with someone else.”
“My mom?” he joked.
Ben lightly punched him.
“Who?”
Ben shook his head.
“Come on! Tell me who the lucky girl is!”
“I told you too much already,” Ben whispered. “Just shut up and go to bed.”
“Hey, you’re the one that wanted to break the engagement!” Jeremiah said, heading to his bed.
Ben leaned over and turned off the light.
A minute later there was an angry whisper from Jeremiah’s bed.
“I really hate you, Ben.”
*****
The next morning, Ben got up and started to pack his suitcase. He couldn’t stay here any longer.
“Ben, what are you doing?” Jeremiah said, grabbed his arm.
He looked up. “What does it look like I’m doing?”
“Ben, you’re leaving?”
He nodded. “Yes and you’re not?”
“What does that mean?”
“You smoked about a pack and a half last night.”
Jeremiah looked down.
“I thought you wouldn’t notice.”
“It smells like smoke in here!” Ben shouted grabbing his shirt’s collar. “Also your shirt smells!”
Jeremiah looked down.
“So that week thing wasn’t really working for you, hu?”
He shook his head.
“Then why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t want to disappoint you.”
“Learning it now disappointed me more!”
Jeremiah grabbed Ben’s wrists and Ben let go of his shirt collar.
“If you leave, take me with you.”
Ben shook his head. “I can’t.”
There was a knock on the door.
“Ben, Jeremiah, breakfast is ready!” Fran shouted.
Ben grabbed his bag and headed downstairs.
“Good morning…. What are you doing, Ben?” Fran asked, after she saw Ben’s bag.
He put the bag down.
“I’m leaving, Fran.”
“What? But? Our marriage!”
“I’m breaking it off,” he said, grabbing his bag, and heading out the door.
Ben was half way to his car when Josh came out, angry. Jeremiah was behind him, shouting wordlessly.
“Ben! Don’t you dare walk out like that!” Josh shouted, grabbing Ben’s arm.
The bag fell just as Josh’s fist went into his face.
He fell down.
“Josh! He has the right to leave!”
Josh grabbed Jeremiah’s shirt collar.
“Not after he hurt Fran he isn’t!”
When they heard a car start, they looked back at Ben pull out his car.
*****
Ben gave his boss a newspaper and his favorite type of coffee, French vanilla.
“Thanks, Ben,” he said, typing on his computer.
“Do you need anything else?”
“Nah, you can go home.”
Ben nodded and headed out just to be called back.
“Ben! I have to show you something!”
Ben stepped back into the office and went next to his boss.
His boss pointed down at the heading of the newspaper.
“‘Francis Anderson is engaged to millionaire Ted Johnson,’” the boss read out loud. “Isn’t Francis your ex-fiancée?”
He nodded. “Is it alright if I can take tomorrow off?”
“Yeah.” He handed Ben the newspaper. “Take this home and read it.”
Ben took the newspaper and headed out.
He opened the door, put the lights on, and put his briefcase on the kitchen table. He glared at the newspaper and then threw it across the room.
There was a long ‘ow!’ from behind the couch, where he threw it.
“Who’s there?”
A man stood up with his arms up.
“Don’t hurt me!”
Ben blinked. “J-Jeremiah?!”
Jeremiah put his arms down and walked over to Ben, who stepped against the wall.
“It’s good to see you’re healthy,” Ben said, looking Jeremiah up and down.
Jeremiah put a hand next to his eyes.
“That damn newspaper has sharp edges!”
Ben laughed. “What are you doing here?”
“You wouldn’t answer my letters so I thought I would drop by for a visit.”
“You replied to my letter I sent you five months ago?”
He nodded.
“I didn’t get anything.”
Jeremiah sighed. “Well, Fran wants you to come to her wedding.”
“Go home and tell her no.”
“You’re forcing me to leave already?”
Ben nodded.
“Well, I’m not going back, Benjamin. Her soon-to-be husband is a jerk.”
Ben looked around his house.
There were two bedrooms, two bathrooms, one kitchen and living room.
“You can stay here until you can find a place.”
Jeremiah nodded. “Thanks.”
They sat down on the couch and Ben put on the television.
Ben looked at Jeremiah’s neck.
“Hey, is that my necklace?”
Jeremiah looked down. “Yeah. You forgot it when you left.”
He took it off of his neck and handed it to Ben.
Ben smiled. “Thank you.”
“Look inside.”
He opened it and saw a picture of the two of the two of them in the pool. Jeremiah was about to splash water at Ben.
“How did you get the picture?”
“Josh secretly took the picture and then gave it to me before you left.”
Ben nodded, with a smile. “So how are things going with you, Jeremiah?”
He looked at me. “Fine.”
“I mean you’re smoking.”
“I can’t quit.”
Ben sighed. “So how’s your family?”
“Abbey had a baby girl and named her Rebecca. Fran is pregnant and Josh is going to have another kid. I don’t know how a twenty one year old has a six year old kid.”
“Demy?”
“Yup.”
Ben counted with his fingers. “Josh was fifteen when they had the kid.”
“They got married when he was eighteen.”
Ben smiled. “At least they waited before marrying right away because of the baby.”
Jeremiah laughed. “Yeah.”
“So, do you still love that person?” Jeremiah asked.
Ben frowned. “Yes but I can’t have that person.”
“Are you going to tell me who it is?”
“I will tell you after you get me a cigarette.”
Jeremiah smiled.
*****
Okay, Ben does like someone. It's alright if you can't figure it out :) I'm not going to tell you though.
Guessss xD lol.
Please review! My (real) first one-shot on this website.
To me, I really thought this story was dull but it's probably my first one that made a little bit of sense!
