Chelsea O’Reilly Surreal Poem
Sight
I can’t see, the world is a blur
I squint, I yell, I walk
It does seem to matter if I were
Closer and farther away
But I can’t see, colors swirl
They turn, all in a haze
Spin and whirl
Confusing my eyes
Like looking at the sun
With your eyes closed tight
All the light and mist run
Together with colors you can’t quite make out
Then it all goes black
Except for a red hazy spot
I can see around the edges
Of where I want to look
But straight ahead
It is hazy, cloudy, blurred
Like taking off your glasses
At the end of the day
I know what is in front of me
For I know this place by heart
But as I try to see the world
By vision falls apart
