Chapter 1
Air Ride
It was a new school year, in a new school. Nothing had changed, it never did. You go to school; you meet new people, and get more annoying teachers. That's how it always went. The only thing that was different this year was that Kyle Damron would be starting school at Jeno's Private High School.
This high school was different because it was for the ‘magic’ and ‘demon’ folk. No one that went to this school was a ‘normal person’. Everyone that went there was a demon, shaman, witch, or wizard. They either came from magic families or demon families, otherwise they wouldn’t even know about the school.
Kyle was a shaman, it ran in his blood, not that he ever cared about anything like it though. To him, it was all just a waste of time and money. Who cared if he was a shaman? Who cared if he could see ghosts? Who cares if he was different? Did it really matter? That's how he thought about it. It was just something he could do that others couldn't. He didn't see why he had to know anything more about it. His parents of course, thought differently being shaman themselves.
Kyle was the average teenager; bad attitude, hate the world, easily annoyed, you know. He had dark brown hair that he always spiked up even though Riley laughed at him saying it looked silly. He had deep blue eyes with a clear confidence in them. Unlike something you would expect from Kyle, if he put his mind to it, it was a fact that he could do anything he wanted. He denied this fact though.
"Kyle, come on. If you're any slower you'll be going backwards!" Alis called from a little ways down the sidewalk. Alis; Alis Zenniph was a good friend and shaman. Like Kyle, being a shaman ran in her blood as well. She had rather long blonde hair that was as usual pulled up into two pigtails with small ringlets at the ends. She had glittering teal eyes that always seemed to have a sense of hope in them. Of course, what she always hoped for no one knew for sure.
Alis spun around her frilly blue skirt doing the same. She looked at Kyle her hands on her hips.
"Are you coming or not?" she asked with what looked like a child's pout. Kyle rolled his eyes but finally gave an answer.
"What's wrong with going backwards? It'd be better then going to this school." He huffed crossing his arms as he often did. Alis frowned at his attitude. She was used to it like everyone else. She grabbed his arms and started pulling him along.
"We're walking or we're going to be late." Alis practically snapped. Kyle stayed quiet after that not wishing to anger Alis anymore then he already had. He knew better then anyone that Alis wasn't one to anger. Though she looked like a harmless young girl, she was far from it. She really could pack a punch and knock you out.
"Yo, Kyle, Alis! Over here!" called a red haired girl in navy blue bellbottom jeans and a gray spaghetti strap tank top. She was sitting on a rather large pile of luggage in front of the air port they were headed to. Her light blue eyes showed what a proud girl she was. Alis waved happily and dragged Kyle over to the girl. He didn't look as excited to see the red haired girl as Alis was. The red head jumped to her feet with a smirk.
"Any longer and you'd be late and then I'd be very very angry; Kyle," the girl spoke shooting a frightening look Kyle's way. He stepped back with a bit of a glare.
"I was hoping you would've left already Riley." Kyle growled irritably as he crossed his arms over his chest again. The red haired girl; Riley clenched her fist then smiled and calmed down.
"Now Kyle, why don't you be a sweetie and carry our luggage or I'll show everyone at the air port this." She said holding up a picture of Kyle butt naked getting out of the shower. Kyle growled; he swore every time he saw this girl she always had something to blackmail him with.
Alis shook her head as he went to get a luggage cart. Riley laughed and tucked the picture in her pocket with a proud smile.
"Hey Riley, what's your ticket say?" Alis asked as she looked down at her ticket with a curious confused face.
"Gate 39ba and 5," Riley replied hardly paying attention to what she said.
"Riley, 39ba and 5 can't really be a gate can it?" Alis asked looking to Riley who blinked. The red haired girl frowned as she too glanced at her ticket again.
"Kyle may know; if not..." she trailed off with an uneasy look.
Kyle came back a moment after with two luggage carts and a disgusted look on his face. He started putting the luggage on the carts then pushed it all inside. Riley and Alis followed quickly after him. Alis pulled out her flight ticket again and showed Kyle the gate number.
"So what, it's a gate number." Kyle huffed as he continued walking through the air port.
"But where is this gate located?" Riley interrupted rudely. Kyle rolled his blues eyes at the two girls.
"Just shut up and follow me will ya? ...And quit yappin'." he spat before turning a sudden corner and walking down a dark quiet hallway. Alis looked around curiously all the sound had suddenly disappeared, there was no one around, and none of the people outside the hall even glanced towards them.
"Kyle, did we just...go through some sort of barrier or something?" Alis asked as she looked back to where they'd come from. Riley shivered and rubbed her forearms. Kyle simply nodded and waited another moment before really answering.
"Yeah, we did. My father warned me about it. Only those with magical talent can see this hallway and only students and teachers can enter it." He explained as they turned around corner and were almost blinded by the light they shown in their faces.
A tall man with brown hair, green eyes, and a uniform stood before them.
"Tickets?" he asked in a lazy way. The three teens pulled out their tickets and showed them to the man who nodded.
"Okay, push your luggage over there and it'll be loaded onto the plane. Then, you can continue down this hall." The man explained pointing to the hall to the right of them. Kyle nodded and pushed the luggage down the hall and came back a moment later. The teens continued their way down the hall. Slowly the seemingly dark hallway grew brighter and louder. Voices came from the end of the hall and soon words and conversations came to be heard as well. Riley smirked as an excited giggle left Alis's lips.
"Ready to show off?" Riley asked already proud of herself and her abilities. Kyle didn't even bother to speak up and tell her that all of the other students probably had the same abilities.
Alis looked around as they reached the end of the hall and came to a large auditorium where hundred of teenagers stood talking, eating, socializing, dancing, anything they could think of. It was rather hard to believe they were about to get on a plane.
Two almost identical looking girls looked over to Kyle, Riley, and Alis. They seemed to be interested in the new comers because they walked up to the three of them.
"The name's Sivanna Houthorn; a pleasure." The taller one of the two spoke. She had long messy indigo hair and piercing silver eyes.
"I'm Shianna Houthorn, nice to meet cha." The seemingly younger one added in. Like her sister she had messy violet hair and piercing gold eyes. Both girls had southern accents and silver hoop earring in each of their ears. They seemed to be about 16 or 17 years old. In a way, they seemed a bit like Riley but it was kind of hard to say for sure.
"I'm Alis Zenniph; it's really nice to meet you both!" Alis said happily with another small excited giggle.
"Jeah and I’m Riley James." Riley piped in with a smirk and a proud look in her eyes.
"Kyle; Kyle Damron," Kyle introduced lazily with his arms crossed.
“Hm…never heard those names before,” Shianna spoke.
“You guys must be new.” Sivanna stated crossing her arms.
“Well then, let us show ya around. The plane leaves in 10 so we’ve got plenty of time.” Shianna said with a smile before the twins headed off. Riley was the first to follow them obviously interested. Alis followed closely behind happily. Kyle watched them head off. He looked around at all the people then decided to follow the girls as well.
Sivanna gestured her head over to a table in the corner, “That’s not a place you wanna spend much time at especially if you don’t know what you’re getting into.”
“That’s for sure. Most of dem over there are demons or friends of demons. You better be pretty damn good friends with a demon over there before you go hangin out there.” Shianna spoke seriously.
“Yep, if you don’t already know, demons aren’t friendly to humans; shamans or not. So keep your guard up with them.” Shianna nodded agreeing fully with her sister.
“Are they really so bad?” Alis asked. She was always trying to see the good in people, no matter who they were.
The twin girls nodded their heads without a moments thought.
“The demons that you see hanging out with the rest of us aren’t always as bad.” Shianna stated.
“That’s true, but sometimes they’re even worse. A few of the ones that try to ‘fit in’ are really just out to hurt you.” Sivanna added with a frown.
Kyle glanced around the hall again. He didn’t see many demons outside that corner. There were a rare few here and there though.
“Out of the blue here, but who are they?” Riley suddenly asked gesturing to two twin girls both with long very wavy red hair and dark cold crimson eyes. The two girls were very thin which was rather noticeable by their clothes. They were both wearing very short, low neck cut, spaghetti strap dresses. To be honest, neither of them looked very friendly sitting quietly at a table alone.
“They’re known as ‘the twins’.” Sivanna started.
“Levi and Lyra Deyome; they’re probably two of the best shamans here.” Shianna added with a small nod.
“That’s a promise especially when it comes to Divination. They can tell you the future of the world in 500 years from now.”
“Yeah, it’s rather creepy for the most part.”
“Oh? Guess they aren’t too friendly since their alone.” Riley huffed. Shianna and Sivanna laughed and nodded agreeing with her statement.
“You can say that again. They’re not ones to make to many friends.” Shianna stated with a smile.
“With that said oh course, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a few ‘friends’. Maybe ‘friends’ isn’t a good word. More like people they ‘hang out with’.” Sivanna added in to the conversation.
“Who might that be?” Kyle spoke up for the first time since this little tour started.
“Carlos Andrews,” Shianna answered. The two girls started looking around the room hoping they could find the boy.
“There he is,” Sivanna spoke up giving a quick point behind them. They turned around and looked to the table where Sivanna’s eyes were now locked.
“That’s him; the tall dirty blonde haired boy sitting on the table.” Shianna stated. The boy; Carlos was indeed tall; around 6 foot. Like Kyle, he spiked up his hair. He had dark blue almost black eyes that seemed to have some deep secrets hidden behind them. Kyle growled lightly. That smirk on Carlos’s face and the look in his eyes was something that gave Kyle a bad feeling.
“The guys around him are all part of his ‘crew’.” Sivanna spoke up after a moment.
“Hn, I don’t like that Carlos guy. Forget his ‘crew’, they can take a hike.” Kyle growled. Riley and Alis turned to look at Kyle. It wasn’t like Kyle to be so blatant with his thoughts like that; especially in public.
Sivanna and Shianna looked at each other then back at Kyle. They started to say something then stopped and remained quiet. Riley was going to ask them what they wanted to say, but didn’t get a chance because the loud speaker suddenly clicked on.
“Students, quiet please.” a female’s voice came over the speaker. The woman sounded like she was maybe in her mid thirties or early forties. The hall slowly quieted down until one could hear a pin drop.
“Can all students please line up starting at table eleven where Professor Christopher Blank is waiting. He will give you a ticket with your seat number on it. After you’ve gotten your seat number, please go down the hall behind the Professor and get on the plane and take a seat. Lets all try to do this in a calm and orderly fashion please.” The woman said before the speakers turned off. Everyone started to line up starting at table eleven. Quite a few of the kids were grumblings about how boring this part was.
“Come on, if you’re not unlucky, you should get to sit together; the three of ya.” Shianna spoke up as she headed over to the ever going line.
“What do you mean if we’re not unlucky?” Alis asked with an innocent curiosity.
“Every few tickets an unlucky person will get a random ticket. The random tickets are set up to separate large groups but usually end up being given to the unlucky students. It’s not on purpose, it just happens that way.” Sivanna explained as they all got in line.
“So, what happens if you get this random ticket?” Riley asked seemingly interested in an answer.
Shianna and Sivanna paused a minute trying to decide how to explain. Finally, Sivanna spoke up again.
“Well, the random ticket is like any other ticket, but it’ll give you a random seat number usually far away from your friends or the tickets around it.”
“Yeah, like if ticket number 11b is the random ticket then the ticket before it could be 58g and the ticket after it could be 59g.” Shianna explained.
“Exactly, does that make sense?” Sivanna asked.
Riley and Alis nodded.
“It does, yes, thank you.” Alis replied with a smile.
The two twins girls smiled glad they could help.
Luckily the five kids didn’t get any random tickets so they all got to sit together; or close to each other.
Kyle walked down the hall following Sivanna and Shianna into the plane. Riley and Alis were laughing and talking behind him. The twin girls ahead of him were happy to show them to their seats on the double decked plane. Since they sat near each other they said it was no big deal.
Kyle wouldn’t say anything, but somehow something didn’t feel right. Maybe he was imaging things, but something felt wrong. He just couldn’t place what it was though.
Kyle frowned a bit as he forced the feeling to the back of his mind and ignored it the best he could. For now, this was all he could do.

Okay, so that's it for chapter one. I know, I know, it's not ten pages so it's not to my liking. But I thought it was pretty fit to end it there.
Also, please don't forget to review and let me know what you think. I'll try my best to get the next chapter out ASAP. Thanks for reading!!
