He ran through the dark forest, panting heavily as he turned around. The foxes were gaining on him. Jintaro decided that it was time to stop running as he stood his ground, prepared to face off with the pair of foxes.
"We've got you now, human..." the first fox said.
"I think you'll make a five-star lunch." said the second fox.
The two foxes drew their claws as they stared at Jintaro hungrily.
"I don't think you want to do that, boys..." Jintaro replied.
"And why's that?"
"Because..."
And suddenly Jintaro was different. His dark skin was covered by black fur and his ears turned pointy. His teeth turned razor-sharp as his claws extended. He still looked somewhat human, but...
"He's...a wolf! Holy shit!"
And then Jintaro changed back, drawing a pair of .45 semi-automatic pistols, filled with gold rounds. (Allow me to explain. You know how werewolves and vampires have to be killed with silver rounds? Well, foxes can be killed with gold rounds.)
Jintaro turned off the safety and put a bit of pressure on the triggers.
"We can take him! He's only one wolf!"
And then the foxes advanced as Jintaro fired his guns. They dropped to their knees as they were pumped with 14K gold bullets. Their flesh began to sizzle as it expanded and finally exploded in a show of blood and gore. The wolf put his weapons away.
"I really don't like transforming."
And with that, the wolf boy made it to the end of the forest. It was a full moon, so he was at his maximum strength. He really didn't like that he had to kill the foxes that tried to attack him. One of his friends was a fox.
JINTARO was born into a pack of wolves- both full and half-demon- in which the tribe also included humans. Jintaro however, was special. His father, a full wolf, had been involved in an erotic relationship with his mother who was a human with the spirit of the dragon. Jintaro was born of this and because of an ancient battle between wolves and dragons, a good portion of the tribe were bigoted toward him and his mother. They didn't care that she was human, but that she had dragon power.
Jintaro's father, however, was the Prince of Wolves at one time. Betrayed by his grandparents, the King and Queen of Wolves- the Prince was murdered in front of Jintaro's eyes at four years old. His mother took him and fled to the mountains, waiting for the right moment to train her son in the arts of the Wolf and the Dragon, a style of combat which Jintaro called the Howling Wings of Fire from combining the power of the wolf and the dragon as to honor the memory of his father and the love of his mother.
When the wolf became old and strong enough, he returned to his tribe and avenged his father, slaying his grandpa. The grandmother had already died of a fatal illness.
However, Jintaro had become too strong. He had almost lost his control of his power, which came close to resulting in the flooding of a whole town. And so Jintaro made a vow to never use the Howling Wings of Fire again, instead mastering the world's martial arts and becoming a skilled marksman with various firearms. His weapon of choice, however, was the chain and scythe or kusarigama. With his substitute “power,” Jintaro had decided to become a guardian.
Middle of the Night:
The wolf boy Jintaro was leaving a bar, enjoying a vodka, when he saw two large lizard demons, a gecko and a Komodo Dragon, corner a female fox demon.
“I think it’d be a good idea if you two backed off of me,” the fox said.
Had to admit, she was courageous. The two lizards remained, flickering their tongues.
“But you owe usssssss...”
“I don’t think the lady owes you anything.”
The lizards turned around and looked at the fool behind them.
"I smell...human on you..."
The lizard took another whiff of the guy.
"And wolf....a half-demon..."
The second lizard focused his attention on the wolf with his companion.
"Do not interfere in our affairs, half-demon..."
Jintaro smiled, baring his fangs.
"Is that supposed to be a threat, lizard boy?"
The gecko's eyes narrowed.
"I'm gonna teach you a lesson, you half-breed son of a bi--"
Before the gecko could finish his sentence, Jintaro had managed to pull his tongue out of his mouth.
"How about I cut this out for you?"
The Komodo dragon flew into a rage.
"That's it! You're dead!"
The Komodo pulled out a knife, running at Jintaro, who sidestepped and wrapped the gecko's tongue around the blade and tied it into a knot before he let go.
"Too easy."
He went over to the fox.
"Are you okay?" asked Jintaro.
The fox looked confused...
"You're...a half-demon?"
"Yeah," Jintaro replied, rolling his eyes. "What, are we rare or something?"
"No...no, it's just that...you're so strong."
"Thank you."
Jintaro extended his hand, which the fox girl took as he helped her up.
"So who are ya? And what the hell did these guys want?"
"I'm Maki and those two stole something from my father that I was trying to get back."
Jintaro went over to the lizards, who were still trying to get untangled. He reached into one's pocket and pulled out an envelope. He handed it to Maki, who opened it up and gold coins came out of it.
"It's all here. Thank you!"
Maki took off down the street as Jintaro headed in the other direction. He turned back and looked at the redheaded fox and sighed before continuing his path.
