slingshot

her first kiss of sorts –
like sleeping beauty, her eyes opened
with a kiss
warm, moist and lingering.

eyes closed not with slumber,
but with the hope of memorizing the feel
of him next to her on the sofa.

she resists the urge to lick her lips
to see if his taste was left too.

this prince could charm words to do
his bidding;
typewritten prose that made her world
spin

a memory,
she wishes,
shouldn’t have to slip though one’s fingers
like a dream.
