retracted promises and betrayals

emotional manipulation, threats,

vulnerability and then long silence

I've held out my hand and felt nothing

and now my arm is tired of holding

and yet…

what am I to do with my heart

that longs to feel yet is growing numb

from long silence, vulnerability,

betrayals and worthless promises

and a night of wind without words

praying to a god who won't answer
