I had to get out of the house. There were too many memories of my mother there. Her clothes were still left in the drawers and in the closet. Pictures of her smiling face clung to the walls and I swear even her scent lingered in the air.
When my mother had died, she left me the house. I couldn't rightfully inherit the house until I was atleast eighteen; until now. I didn't think that all of our possessions -her possesions- would still be here.
~*~*~*~
Wind floats around me, sending a chill down my back. I pull my violet jacket closer around me and zip it up. To my left sits a small park. There's a slide on the western side of the park and some swings on the eastern side. Toward the center of the park, a large tree was planted with vicious branches that hang a couple of feet above a wooden picnic table.
I saunter into the park and sit on one of the four empty swings. Small pebbles surround the ground around the swings, slide, and even a small play structure a few feet away.
I remember this park. I use my feet to push off on the swing. My mother used to bring me to this park when I was younger. My hair flickers like flames behind me as I catch more momentum. The swings were always my favorite.
I suddenly stop the swing, moving small pebbles out of their places. I stare down at my hands which are being luminated by the street lamp above me across the street. A warm flood of tears begin to fall from my eyes. I miss her so much. My mother was my whole world.
