"Have a seat in the living room," Janiston said as he headed upstairs, leaving Jennie standing in the entrance hall.
Walking toward the living room, she stopped in her tracks when she saw a group of people sitting in the room. One looked up at her and gave her a wave as she recognized him to be Janiston's father.
"Come in," Morey called out, motioning for her to come closer.
Beside Morey sat a girl who seemed younger than her, but had the same color eyes and hair as Janiston did. And also appeared to be quite a bit more busty and curvy than Jennie which gave her an agitated twitch under her eye.
"Janiston brought me over to study," Jennie replied, edging her way into the room slowly.
"Lucky bastard," Mirage suddenly spouted from one side of the room as he slumped in his chair and pouted.
"It's nice to see you again," Morey said, standing up. towering over Jennie. He gave her a smile. "And especially under better circumstances."
"Yeah," she replied.
"This is my daughter, Ashlee," he said as the girl on the couch bounded up and stood beside her father. But all Jennie could see was the bouncing breasts that made her face falter.
"I've been wanting so badly to meet you!" Ashlee shouted, grabbing Jennie's hands in her own. "I was hoping we could spend some time together. Go hang out at the mall and watch movies together! Sleepovers!"
"Eh?" Jennie questioned as she looked confused to Morey.
"We can even listen to music together!" Ashlee said in a loud voice as she began shaking Jennie's hands up and down vigorously. "Have you heard about the ID-10-TS?"
"ID...10...TS?" Jennie repeated.
"It's a popular band among our kind," Mirage said abruptly, getting to his feet. He grabbed a sheet of paper and began writing on it. "But I'll tell you what they really are." He wrote out the band name on the paper and handed it to Jennie.
"Idiots?" she asked as she stifled a laugh and covered her mouth with a hand. "And you like them?"
"Yeah!" Ashlee shouted, "and you're just jealous that you're not as hot as Jae-Hwa Park!" She whipped out something from the back pocket of her shorts and handed it to Jennie. "This is Jae."
"The guy with white hair and..."
"He's a white wolf," Ashlee replied. "He's so sexy."
"Who are...they have elf ears?" Jennie questioned, staring at the crumbled image.
"That is Rhys and Rhoslyn Arawn," Ashlee replied. "They're brothers and really cute, too, but no one can look as good as Jae."
"Sure," Jennie whispered. "Is he wearing a dress?"
"Rhos cross-dresses," Mirage said, nudging Jennie. "He's a little off his rocker."
"Yeah," Jennie replied with a look of doubt.
"Come on up!" Janiston called out for Jennie as she handed Ashlee back her picture.
"Maybe we can talk later," Jennie replied as she made a hasty retreat up the stairs. She found Janiston standing at the end of the hallway. "Your sister is very energetic."
"She gets it from our mother," Janiston remarked. "I tend to be more like my father. Although my..." He paused, looking at Jennie with questioning eyes. "My uncle is kind of reckless."
"Uncle?" Jennie asked. "Does he live here, too?"
"No, well, sort of," Janiston said. "He doesn't really show up much unless he wants his laundry done. He travels around. Kind of like a wandering musician-type."
"Sounds nice," she said with a sigh. "To escape everything."
"It's not always a good thing," he replied. "You miss out."
Stepping into his bedroom, Jennie was surrounded by an atmosphere that was quaint. "Wow, you keep everything so clean for a guy," she said, fingering the desk that contained various books and framed photos.
Janiston's eyes widened in horror as he grabbed a hold of one of the pictures and forced it down on the desk, keeping his hand on it firmly. "Have a seat," he said as Jennie cocked an eyebrow up at his behavior.
"Sure," she replied, sitting down on his bed. She watched him fumble around his desk. "Oh, before we start, could you get me a drink?"
"Oh." Janiston said, looking over his shoulder. "Sure." He stopped what he was doing and left the room.
"For someone who is suppose to be smart, he was pretty dim there," she said, getting up and heading to the desk. She picked up the framed photo and stared at it. A woman with dark brown hair that was cut short and curled around her face was smiling at her. "His mom?" Her eyes widened in shock as she realized quickly who it was. "It's my mom."
"Why does he have a picture of my mom?" she asked, placing the picture back down. "Well, supposedly his family was friends with mine, too, so maybe..." She shook her head and went back to the bed, thinking it over.
