I've always hated summer camp, especially when it's an all girls' camp. It's not the nature that I hate really, in fact I enjoy the forest very much. What I do hate about camp though are all of the motivated whiners, who can't get over the bugs, or how they can't believe that their parents would actually ship them off to the forest for a couple of weeks.

I slip on my grey hooded sweatshirt then climb down from my bunk. It's still really early, so the sun hasn't reached its peek yet. The sounds of crickets still echo throughout the camp and the cabin seems to be much colder than it was the previous morning.

"Where are you going?" my bunk-mate Katie asl as I unlock the cabin door.

"For a morning run," I reply.

"Well don't get caught," Katie says then rolls over on her bunk. I push open the cabin door and reclose it quietly. The cool air dances around me as I take off running toward the trail to the south of Camp Shaywood.

Bright green mosses cover the Northern sides of trees and gnats float in small clouds above me. I follow the path through the forest, leading past tall trees, dead leaves, and probably tons of insects.
