This Man Of Mine
He showers me with jewelry
This man of mine
But what are his intentions –
Are they fine?
-
Does he wish to hold me
In his arms every day?
Or am I just dreaming –
His vulnerable prey?
-
He touches me warmly
In places unknown
To me and all men
As I am alone.
-
I care for him deeply;
Does it extend to love?
I’m afraid of my emotions
And that unexpected shove.
-
He has a smile of gold
This man of mine
Each time I look at him
I fall out of line.
-
Our attraction is wrong
Also forbidden
Yet it cannot be helped –
I know little of men.
-
He speaks of me fondly
To others he knows
But only to me
His attraction shows.
-
He says we shall marry
‘Soon,’ he says, ‘soon’
And always shall I
Dance to his tune.
-
My heart is a-flutter
Whenever I see him
And so I know chances
To hate him are slim.
-
No matter how little
I see this man of mine
It is his intentions
Of which I shall mime.
