Title: Backbone Baked

Voices you remember
Faces you forget
Him I know you mentioned
Her I haven't met
Places that you used to
Some you haven't yet

Alice says for always
Bunny's not so sure
Cat is complicated
Duchess is demure
Cat is looking sated
Duke was not so pure

Four and twenty feelings
Three that she enjoys
One's a little angry
Two are little boys
She's a little girl, but
She'd rather have his toys

Pearls and pez and pencils
And other pleasant things
Pile up at our shoulders
So they can give us wings
You won't like the feeling
Don't rub it if it stings

In every public building
A clock is running slow
For all the boring meetings
When you really have to go
The only clock that's moving
Is really just for show

Metal foil petals
Tinkle when they're knocked
We'd be watching movies
But the website's blocked
Plus the picture's shaky
When the boat gets rocked

Warmer wetter winter
Makes for greenish sprigs
Buds of early flowers
Beds we have to dig
Chop her in the yard
And feed her to the pigs

Rust is from a medal
Verdigris from brass
Tarnish is from silver
Shrapnel came from glass
Chalk used to be bone
Until it laid under the grass

Voices you'll remember
Days that you'll regret
Him you've gotten rid of
Her you have to get
Eventually, maybe
It hasn't stopped you yet
