A Mother’s Advice To Her Daughter.

See the moon out there? It is yours.

The bright silver disc on a blue velvet sky,

Howl to it.

Speak your pain, make the forest live again.

Drink water from the clear pool,

Feel the cold wind on your grey fur.

Run past the pines,

Rend the flesh of your prey.

Do not speak to those from lesser packs.

Protect your cubs, for they are the future.

Go to your mate and nuzzle at his side.

Stop.

You hear noises that will wake your cubs.

If they are human-noises, be on your guard,

The men could have weapons.

Daughter, the forest is dangerous but the city is –

Hell.

If you must run and leave the den,

Do so, for I will be there with you.

My spirit and the spirit of the pack will protect you.
