When a writer’s idea goes unwritten,
What does it do?

Does it wander away to curl up and die
Or fight on forgotten, a sword in its side?

Does it cling to life like a man on a boat
Beaten and battered, but not giving up hope?

Often, I think, it settles in deep
Coming forth once again in the deepest of sleep

Holding on tight, no matter how tired
Waiting again for its chance to inspire

Shades of Langston Hugues, I know...Again, I think may of us on this site can relate to what I'm talking about here.
