Hilo! I know it's been a while but I'm back and I plan to finish this one right.
I know I never told you that I was doing a sequel but I read the ending to the first one and decided that I needed to add to it.
That and a lot of you pmed me about adding an epilogue or something so I did this instead. I highly doubt that there will be a third so I'll try to cover all of the bases with this one.
My breath caught. It was Marco. "Yes."
"I, um, I found your note."
"Yeah, I guessed as much."
There was a bit of an awkward silence before he said, "I can't talk right now, I just have to know something."
"What is it?"
"Are you really coming back?"
There was a pause. I thought he'd hung up until he said, "I'll be waiting." Then the line clicked dead.
6 Months Later
That was the last phone conversation Marco and I had. Just like that I knew he forgave me. Since then we've been writing and texting but we've just never called eachother again. I know they say that long-distance relationships never work out but I need something to believe in and this was it.
I guess you're wondering where I've been. Well, after I left Marco, I boarded a flight to the island of Giannutri off the coast of Tuscany, Italy. It wasn't difficult for us to settle in because Melani and Lionel had found a nice little hotel and bought it with money that I'd given to them and we were going to run it together. It's a simple lifestyle but it pays the bills and we're all very happy.
Soon after I left Marco, I found out that the last time we were together had been even more special than just being our last time together for a while, I was pregnant. Every time I wrote Marco or dialed his number, I wanted to tell him but I knew it was something that I'd have to tell him to his face and so here I am on the plane trying to figure out what I'll tell him when he sees me.
I didn't even tell him I was coming because it was a very last minute thing. All I'd done was call Mr. Medina and ask him if I could go and talk to him as soon as I got in. Needless to say, he was very surprised to hear from me but he agreed to meet with me. As I sit on the plane, I wonder how father and son will take what I have to tell them. I also have to wonder whether or not either one of them will believe me. I look over at Brandi's sleeping form and I have to thank God that she survived everything that happened to her. After we found her, it was a few weeks before the doctors even began to try to truly convince me that she would make it. They'd said a few hopeful things here and there before but for the first couple months it was really just a part of their job descriptions making them say those things rather than the true belief that they acquired at the end of her second month in the hospital.
When she finally started to get better, she began asking me if we could go and see Marco again. It got to the point where whenever I'd ask her what her wish would be when we saw a shooting star, she'd always give me the same response. 'I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to see my Daddy again.'Everytime I asked her, she'd say this and everytime it'd break my heart just a little bit more and I'd say, 'me too, baby. me too'. After a particularly bad visit from some strange men, I've decided to go see Marco at last. This thrilled Brandi and she immediately went to start packing.
I sighed as the plane landed. Here goes nothing.
The trip off the plane and through baggage and customs wasn't that bad but I was astonished to see a regal-looking man holding a sign that read, 'Welcome Home Mira and Brandi!' I went over to him and said, "Are you waiting for us?" He nodded silently and led us towards the doors after taking the bags away from me. He put the bags in the trunk but opened the door of the limo to let someone out, rather than to let us in. My jaw dropped as Mr. Medina, Delilah, and David all poured out of the limo. "Oh my God!"
I hugged each of them before asking what was going on. Delilah spoke up, "Well, after you called Mr. Medina, he assumed that you'd be planning to just call a cab and get a ride to a hotel and he wasn't very well gonna let you do that, now was he? So, he called David to ask him who you're best friend on the team was and naturally, my favorite big brother told him that it was me! A simple checking of your passport told us that you were coming in today and here we are!"
I giggled. "Wow, and I would've accepted a simple, 'we just came to welcome you back.'" She laughed and we hugged again.
Brandi, who didn't remember Delilah or David immediately went over to Mr. Medina and cried, "Pampaw!"
He beamed and picked her up, "My little Brandi! My how big you've gotten. And how old are you know?" She proudly held up two fingers and he laughed and praised her. After we finally made it into the limo, Mr. Medina asked the question that I knew was going to come eventually. "So Mira, I thought you promised me no more grandkids."
I laughed at the memory of our first meeting. "Well, this wasn't exactly planned, sir."
"So it is Marco's?" I nodded. "Does he know?"
I hesitated and looked out the window for a moment. "No, I just couldn't tell him in a letter or a text. It's something I have to tell him in person."
They all nodded as if they understood. Then, Mr. Medina asked inevitable question number two: "Does he even know you're coming?"
"What is it?"
"I kind of need your help with something and I figured now was as good a time as any to drop every bomb I have on you guys."
"What do you mean?"
"We have a lot to talk about." And I left it at that. After we dropped Delilah, David, and Brandi off at their house, Mr. Medina and I went back to his office to talk.
We sat down and he folded his hands on his desk and said, "So, Mira, what is it that you have to drop on me?"
I took a deep breath and began my story.
I hope you liked it! Please give me a review with something to indicate that you even read it because as you can see on my profile,
I haven't been able to do this for a while. I'm not entirely sure I was good at it back when I did it before.
So please give me a review even if all that it says is, 'hi OSN'. That'll mean that you at least clicked on the link to the story.
I'm done babbling now. Please Review!
