Oh, Marlie, sweet darling,
I can see your tears are drying,
your smile emerging so beautiful.
The sorrow, built up, disappears;
yet – You yearn to stay there,
within the dark sadness called home.

Though now your reflection,
in the mirror of one’s life,
returns a happy promise for you,
sadness has been your only place –
For long years you existed in it.

Silence, though cold, was shelter;
sorrow, the friend to lean upon,
always there, never left.
You enjoy the sweet freedom
happiness gives to you –

Oh, but Marlie, listen,
your heart misses the pain,
yet you can’t go back;
never, don’t look behind you…
It only held you down.

You were so pretty in your pain,
but even more in happiness.
You’ve grown so much so quickly;
Marlie, continue moving, walking,
you’ve come too far to forsake it all.

Darling, you’re tears may be gone,
but they will always be the battle.
Sorrow was the past, but now –
success, happiness, is the future.
