“Look, it’s a star! Make a wish.”
“Adam, honey, it’s just a star, not a shooting star.”
“So?”
“So you just wish upon shooting stars.”
“But she’s beautiful!”
“She?”
“The star, Millie, the star.”
“If I know that you are dating other girls again…”
“But I never did that, Millie, my darling.”
“No?” Crap, he’s right. Jonathan did that.
“You are doing that again, aren’t you? Thinking about your ex-boyfriend.”
“No, Adam, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
“He’s dead, you know that.”
How could he be so cold? Well, that’s why she wasn’t really surprised when she returned to her hometown and discovered her childhood friend, Adam, still single. He definitely had luck with her.
“Yeah, I know… He wasn’t that great, anyway.”
“So why do you…?”
“Because he’s a memory, Adam, for God’s sake! Listen yourself; you are getting jealous over a dead body!”
“You just said that he’s a memory, not some dead guy.”
I guess the night was too peaceful…
“Adam”
“He’s like the shooting star, the special one. I’m the star, the one that is so ordinary that no ones really looks at me.”
“Well, Adam, that’s perfect, because, you know, the shooting star always goes away and people just forget about it. But, the “ordinary” star never leaves the sky. It’s there, watching us, always waiting…
“Waiting for what?”
“Well, you said that yourself, didn’t you? For the ones that will notice her and wish upon her.”
He’s smiling, he has such a beautiful smile…That’s right, Adam’s here. Not Jonathan. And he doesn’t even deserve my thoughts… I am the lucky one, not Adam.
“So let’s do it from the beginning” Adam whispered “Look, sweetie, it’s a star! Make a wish!”
