Requiem of Aphrodite
The thing is… the thing is, is that I love you… yes… I love you. And if I have to scream it to the world for you to believe me I will. I love you.
It was something great, it was something powerful, something valuable. It was love.
Love is something great by itself, but it can also make something ugly. It is something that people want to forget and shun, something that can deeply hurt an honest heart.
"I love you…" was the first thing he had said to her, and she replied with a wide smile, eyes brimming with tears. Her nods were answer enough. Both were swallowed into an embrace that seemed to last forever. Their fingers were entwined and their lips together. And there it was, the birth of love.
Then… the ugly thing starts to mold itself from the dark recesses of love. For years, even with the quick reassuring whispers of "I love you", it wasn't going to go away.
They spent their lives with their fingers intertwined yet separate, warm but at the same time cold, close but apart. In other words… they were left with nothing but emptiness.
"I love you…" now it was hesitant. "I love you…" it was questionable. "I love you…" it was distant.
The replies were the same, a smile. But it faltered, it showed sadness, it showed disdain.
Yet…it was understandable. They separate, broken, pained, trembling, weakened…
They spent their lives with their fingers apart, desperate for a touch, cold, yearning for warmth, apart, wanting to be close.
"I love you…" it's just words. And there it was… the death of love.
A/N: I really hope that there is something you can get out of this. I've never been the kind of person to believe in love… (Hence my penname). But I don't fully reject the idea of it. My loves are rather likes.

The next passage may offend some of you, please do not read if you get easily offended
What I'm trying to say is that love is something that exists merely as somewhat of a hobby. No one loves anyone seriously anymore, and when we say it, do we really mean it? Love is a very powerful word, like the word hate. It's disgusting how people throw around the word so lightly. I'm yelling at myself too, I use the word lightly as if it's nothing. People say "I love you!" to a boyfriend who you'll be angry with within the year or month. "I love you!" to a person you marry whom you'll be cheating on in a week, or divorced in a year. Today's society has managed to make such a wonderful gift and creation into something dirty and unworthy. Diamonds are now the substitute of love. It became a word rather than a feeling. Love has become a fling, a fad, it's commercialized. It's become a thing. I've always thought of people as disgusting creatures… we truly cannot grasp the concept of "love".
In all respect to those who have a standing relationship and does take it seriously, congratulations, and I mean that sincerely. Please keep a tight grip on it, you are role models in some way.
