I gently stroked my small calico kitten. A tear dropped from my eye and landed on her fur. I was still dressed in the black silk dress I'd worn to their funeral. My parents, they'd died while on an African safari, mauled to death by a hippo. More salt water fell from my blue orbs as I cried my heart out, wondering what I was going to now that my only living relatives were dead. I could stay with a friend--wait, I had no friends. I din't want to belong to the government, I didn't want to live in an orpahnage, always waiting to be adopted.
I couldn't afford the house, so I was evicted, and the house went to the bank, of course. I sat on the street, all my luggage in hand, in the middle of January. As soon as I thought things couldn't get any worse, it started raining. And I thought that only happened in movies and books. Cars sped by my solemn place on the curb, splashing my clothes with water, as if they weren't wet enough from the heavy downpour. Angel, my kitten, was hissing in her cat carrier; the rain was being blown in and was hitting her in the face.
"It's okay, baby." I spoke gently to the small cat, soothing her, "We'll find somewhere to stay, even if it's a cardboard box." The kitten looked up at me in reply, and stopped hissing at the elements. Sometimes I thought she could really understand me. I heard another car coming, and curled partially into a ball, preparing for the inevitable splash of ice cold rainwater. Instead, the car stopped. It was sleek, and black, a Lambourgini. A woman in her early forties came into view as the window rolled down.
"OhMyGoodness!" She gushed, "Are you homeless?" She asked.
"Yeah. My folks just died, and I have no living relatives."
"Oh, you poor baby. Would you like to come home with me?"
"But you don't know me. I could be a psyco killer!"
"I'm well protected. I have a great husband and a sixteen year old son to protect me."
"Oh." Her son sounded just around my age. "Okay. Angel and I would really like a place to stay."
"Wonderful! I know you'd love my son! You two would be so cute together!"
"What?" I asked as I was loading my luggage into her backsaet.
"Oh, yeah, there's a catch: You have to lure my son away from that horrible slutty girlfriend of his. If you don'tby the end of the month, we're kicking you out." Her friendly faqade had melted away. She was cold and distant now. I'd never been much of a seductress, but I'd try, bide my time.
"Okay, I'll help."
A/N: Wow! I never expected to be asked to join a C2! This is the beginning of a new story! Yay! I have too many projects right now,so I don't knw how often it'll get updated. Sorry.
