AN: I was listening to Dir En Grey's song by the same name while I wrote this (for a school assignment). The first two lines are based on the first two lyrics of the song, but the poem itself is not.
Dead Tree
Here is some water for the dead tree
I see its true reflection in the dirty water
Mud, dreams and aspirations
Ideals as high as its branches
It’s appearance, its gift to the world
Water seeping into the dead roots
It brings about the bloom of leaves
A faded green, a fake green
Sprouting wisdoms and truths that it does not believe
I see it, when I wish to be blind
Wooden face, bliss and understanding
Water seeps up, giving life to its’ lies
Fed fifty million times a day by those who think they know
The dead tree grows, but it knows no life
Here is some water for the dead tree
Letting it grow and overtake this forest
With its greenery and high branches
Masking the murky water within
It smiles and says it’s happy
Your smile and say you’re happy
