Every atom of their being exuded a deep purple essence, billowing out of the close-shaven fuzz on their heads and the fabric of their identical garments. In their hands, pointed straight at us, they carried projectile weapons with an essence of dark, brown-tinted red. Some of them were tainted with traces of light green, their weapons carrying less authority with a lighter red; although they were intended for killing, these weapons were as yet inexperienced in taking life.

A stocky, less smooth-skinned version of the beings gathered behind him stepped forward. His words were complex, carrying hints of blue and gold in the same underlying deep purple of his essence. We replied in his language, conveying yellow and orange with undertones of dark blue that showed we wouldn't be easily taken advantage of.

We allowed ourselves to be taken in a heavily armoured vehicle to a aboveground front of a mostly underground building. The corridors carried a light grey essence and every being we passed seemed on guard, with dark blue mixed into their purple, as well as more of that light green. We were met by a group of older and less muscular beings whose essences carried none of the purple and a lot of grey and gold. They ran tests on us and we calmly complied, allowing them to take samples and ask questions while we quietly absorbed knowledge of their culture from their minds.

Much of it was red, ranging from the dark tragedy of war, to the deep crimson of assassination and the pale, sickly red that coloured illness and suffering. There was a lot of gold too, tied into their governing system and partnered with brownish-green betrayal and hints of dark green suspicion.

In fact, dark green seemed to be everywhere in the thoughts of these beings; they didn't trust us and our motives, they actually expected us to turn red and enslave their race. We could only surmise that they must have evolved from a prey species, doomed to mistrust each other, keep secrets, tell lies and be forever at war.

We allowed them to complete their tests. At the very least, these beings were motivated by the grey of science and knowledge as much as the gold that tainted them. They wanted to keep us longer, but we left of our own volition, teleporting back to our vessel and flying away in spite of the brownish-red missiles that followed us.

As I shared my experiences with my friends and family, I added a warning, wrapped up in pink and orange and blue:
Stay away from the Humans of Earth. They mean you harm.
