Prologue

Don't dwell on such simple things child,

For You just never know when the night just might kill you,

With its devious lies and tricky ways,

You are a child of a monstrous sort.

It's hard to imagine a world were there is no light. Where the night rules and their sun is our moon, and were creatures that we could only say are fairy tales, are just as vivid as our own reality. As a child, I was fascinated as I was frightened to think such a place could exist.

Fascinated at thought of the moon ruling over the earth, the moonlight revealing the world of the night, covered in it's heavenly light.

Frighten though, not knowing what lay beyond the ever-sleeping veil of twilight, of what dangers dwelled in the darkness rather than the moon's glow.

That night though, when I decided to leave my confronting home, I never anticipated what could possibly go wrong. Of what, I was possibly doing to my own life as I ran into the convivial shadows of the woods behind my home.

Even till this day I never understood why I was panting, or why my legs just kept on running despite the painful ache in my thighs. I can still hear my heart about to burst as it wailed underneath me chest, crying out for freedom as though it were being suffocated.

Yet, bits and pieces of the dim memory told me that whatever had happen, I didn't escape without my life being altered permanently.

All I remember of that night, were those appalling howls with those chanting words of old, and the ever linger scent of blood.

Yes, that and my own life; my life of light, were now tied to the wavering night.

Summary: Lacy Allen was once a normal girl. She had a job, friends, got average grades at Estrella high, and just wanted enough money to go to collage after graduation. Yet, right as her path was just about made and set, it changes drastically. Now here she is, half mortal, and half immortal. She doesn’t quite understand how it happened, but all she knows is that her dreams to live a normal life has ended, and now leads to the dark.
