She was just about the strangest thing, at least in the opinions of most people. She wasn't like the other girls in her classroom. She wore no makeup. She didn't giggle and gossip over boys. And she most certainly did not like shopping.

The girl's skin was a deathly pallor. She was thin, almost unhealthily so. Her eyes and short, bushy hair were dark brown – closer to black, actually. A pair of glasses remained permanently attached to her face; she never took them off, it seemed. Her black leather jacket was her most prominent feature – she was never seen without it, either.

She seemed to be against any and all types of mainstream anything, be it clothes, bands, or other. Her clothes, as she would easily admit, were from Wal-Mart or some other common retailer. Her pants were always just a little tighter than she preferred. She would proudly declare that her shoes had served her just fine over the past two years, and that she didn't need any new pairs, thank-you-very-much.

The girl was the freak in the school. The outcast that everyone was familiar with, but didn't know the name of. The girl that I got partnered up with for a science project.

Dear lord, help us both.
