untangle the dreads from my hair,
please wipe off this silly makeup,
i'm not who you want me to be,
you never wanted my mind,
you just wanted the doll you've created.
tear off these dumb fake nails,
i don't care if they spell you name.
unmask me and what do you see?
what you always wanted to be.
look at this and what do you find?
i see the troubles you've tried to leave behind,
you can change my look but not my mind.
take your money and your cheap perfume,
i just want to leave this room.
free me to my natural habitat,
where my real friends are at.
