green lung;

you're not smoking a
cigarette and i'm not smoking
a cigarette,
and we're sitting and
wishing we had
at least one to share between us,
when you say,

you know? blue's a nice color.
and you suck in the oxygen
like you'd rather suck in
cancer.

i say, green's a nice color.
and i poke at a scab from
the burn of an incense stick.
like serenity, and calm. and you.

and you melt a little.
you lean towards me with
your dripping heart and appendages
and i can taste the love on my tongue,
so i say,

but green has never been my favorite color.
