Ok, so the fairy tale is in italics and the real world is normal. Enjoy!
Once upon a time, there was a world called Surra. It was a world of magical creatures. There were dwarves, giants, witches, fairies and every other magical creature you can think of. There were two girls, one a beautiful witch, the other a young fairy princess. They were best friends, ever though the witch was a few years older. They did everything together. They loved going on adventures, and the fairy princess loved watching the witch perform magic. The young princess was called Isabel and the witch was named Elysia.
One day, on one of their adventures, they were running through the fields of tall grass when they came across a boy. He was a little older than Elysia. He had dark black hair and striking blue eyes. He was startled to see them, and even more startled by the witch’s beauty. “Hello,” he said after catching his breath.
“Hello,” said Elysia. “Who are you?”
“I am Lukas, prince of Surra. And you are?”
“Elysia and Isabel.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Prince Lukas,” said Isabel.
“Well, it is nice to meet you, too.” He smiled at her, then looked at Elysia. “And you as well, Elysia.” He was getting over the stunned feeling of seeing her.
Elysia was just staring at him. He was the most handsome man she had ever seen. His hair wasn’t very long, and he had a little bit of a beard starting. He wore old clothes that you wouldn’t expect on a prince. “Very nice, your highness.”
“Oh, please, don’t call me your highness. I don’t like it, it sounds too….formal. Please just call me Lukas.”
“Very well, Lukas. Why are you out here? And why are you alone?”
“I had to get out of the castle. No one would leave me alone, and I rather enjoy peace and quiet. What about the two of you?”
“We were hunting pirates!” exclaimed Isabel.
“Pirates? Where are they?” Lukas instantly joined the game and soon he was playing the role of the notorious pirate captain Blackbeard. They played together until the sun set and moons rose. “I have had the most wonderful day,” Lukas said as they walked to the fairy forest where Isabel lived. “I love this forest. It always seems so peaceful and beautiful.”
“I live here,” Isabel said proudly.
“Is it?”
“Yes. I am a princess.”
“A fairy princess.” He chuckled. “Well, I am pleased to have met one finally.”
“And Elysia’s a witch!”
He looked at Elysia. “A witch? Really?” She blushed a little, and nodded. “Well, I am also very proud to meet a witch. You are a kind witch, I assume?“
“Of course.”
“I am pleased to hear it. I truly have had such a great day. I should be glad to join you again sometime, if you will allow me to.”
“We have adventures everyday. I am Isabel’s watcher and protector, so we always have fun. You can join us whenever you need to escape.”
“Which is almost everyday.”
“Please come play again,” said Isabel. She gave him a look that made him smile.
“I shall join you tomorrow. The same field?” They stopped at the edge of the fairy forest.
“Yes, the same field,” said Elysia, smiling.
“Yay!” exclaimed Isabel.
“Alright. I shall see you both tomorrow. I am looking forward to it.”
“As are we,” said Elysia. She and Lukas smiled at each other before she began to lead Isabel into the forest.
“Elysia!” Lukas called when they were almost out of turned to face him. “Where do you live?”
“In a cottage not far from here.”
“Would you allow me to accompany you on your short walk?”
She smiled. “I would like that very much. I’ll be back in a couple of minutes.” She turned and walked away with Isabel. Lukas smiled to himself and waited.
Not very long after, Elysia returned. “It really is only a short distance, but I should be glad to have company.” They both smiled and walked together to the little cottage at the west end of the wood. Neither one said anything, but they both smiled to each other and glanced at each other once in a while. Once at the door, they stopped and looked at each other. “I am glad to have met you both today.”
“As are we. Isabel especially. She loves making new friends.”
He smiled. “I shall see you both tomorrow, then? Good night, Elysia.”
“Good night, Lukas.” She walked up to the door and went into the house. Lukas was left to try to sneak back into the castle alone, where he was sure to get in trouble. He didn’t care, though, because he had met the perfect girl.
The sisters finished chapter one, and were more than startled. The names could have been coincidence, but the weird part was the pictures. There were drawings throughout the chapter, and when they looked at the faces of the witch and the fairy princess, it was like looking in a mirror. And the clothes they were wearing were the same as the girls’ costumes.
Alyssa was doubly disturbed, for the prince was one of the men in her dream from the night before. What was this story?
