i was born within a building
leached of color and appeal
all sorts of shoes echoed down the hallway
when i made my first silent squeals,
and i'm giving up.
we begin within the same place that we die,
so why should i feel so far away from home?

i've been trapped inside a tower
built of bricks, and slate, and stone
and beautys' gone, the moment's fleeting,
even gold must lose its glow.
so who can i trust?
these four cold walls just
cull me into sleep
but i'll be free,
maybe i can save me.

don't bother trying to
scale up my towers walls,
i'll unhook your little fingers from the fault lines to watch you fall.
don't bother trying to
turn me towards the sun.
i decided upon darkness long before the night had come.
