She says,
“There is snow falling in my veins”
“All I feel is cold”
And he barks,
“I will take away your skin”
And he presses his fat skeleton
Upon her frail one
Turning the snow to filthy ice
He gives her black lullabies
She falls into his dull arms
Finding a terrible comfort there
Her dreams to die he ignores
And makes her shed the lucid silk of her skin
Spilling all of his lies there
She is sleeping deeply in his scorn
From under her sickness no strength will surface
She’s sung drunken and stricken
Laying her faithless self down at his side
In the dark of his lullabies
Wrapped in strange sheets
Afraid for God to hear her wretched sighs
Her flesh she has let him take
And left the bones to show the waste
Oh this child is a wicked one
Deadened by his savage lullabies
