Heatherwood Park
by carcrash.

---

There was a burning sensation in his throat, tears brimming at his, threatening to fall. He wanted to get words out, wished he could get words out, but no speech ever left his mouth. What could he do? His mind drew a blank, and he could feel himself slowly slipping away. A little bit of his sanity went along with him.

The boy moved unsteadily once he rose from where he had been sitting. He had the urge to get out and just go. He ignored the looks of concern from other people, wanting to thank them for their worry, although he knew deep down that they'd stop fretting about him within a few fractions of a minute. No one really cared what was his problem, they just didn't want him to fall and cause a scene-- they had problems of their own.

Heading down the hallways, he couldn't see straight. His mind was too boggled, his eyes too filled with anguished tears. He pushed passed people who gave him odd stares and annoyed looks. Yes, yes, he already knew he was a nuisance, the teen didn't need a reminder.

Finally seeing the exit, he bolted out the automatic doors and felt himself fall to his knees, letting out a sob.

No. No. No.

The youth looked up at the concrete building, the gleaming lights reading General Hospital made his stomach sick.

Everything from that night replayed in his head so clearly. There was so much laughter and happiness coated with promise of tomorrow, the promise of a future.

And now what?

Now nothing was okay.

Nothing would ever be okay again.

After all, how could you think of perfection, happiness, and white picket fence when your lover was dead?
