don’t step on the crack,
or you’ll break your mothers back

but when i look at the cracks in pavement,
Crude, Manmade, Dried Piles of Sludge,
i see no superstition,
simply life, triumphant.

blades of grass, sharp and crisp,
poking through the sun baked Slime,
proud, defiant, and
unrelenting to the world.
