The Reality of Dreams

I think perhaps if I lay awake at night

My dreams will come towards light

Sleep deeply, reel away in thought

Reach out, grasp that which is sought

Stumble to where oblivion is at hand

Soar between reality and Neverland

The thoughts may be at our fingertips

Like a glass of wine, waiting for a sip

I lie in wait for reality to fade away

Jump and dive deep from where I lay

The doors open into nothingness

Sheer imagination is sheer bliss

Sunset’s silhouettes against the earth

I see every detail, cackle with mirth

My thoughts fade and grow, my own

I watch them as they shape their own tone

Feel the rush of unlimited imagination

Why can’t it be more than a vacation?

For I know that this is just not reality

Perhaps that’s nothing but a technicality

I know that life is not a fairytale

Where my dreams are free to set sail

So I will watch as my dreams fly away

On the wings of birds, into the day
