Solace

In a still quiet
Find it lingering
Waiting to come out
But shyness expels
And sadness prevails

So idly sit by
Watching as it comes
Goes and stays and comes
But constantly out of reach
Cause it’s more of an illusion

And without much warning
In the still quiet
Find it circling
Wanting to enter
But staying far back

Standing by itself
Knowing that its presence
Is captivating
Is calming
Is the best that you’ll ignore

Listlessly straying
Trying to wiggle its way
Into a wandering life
A complicated life
A tainted, stained existence

So, in a still quiet
The solace nestles
Safely away from the flame
Close enough to touch
And lurking between
