Alone in the Light

As blood reeks from my wounds,

I look for a cure, I look for a remedy,

I pretended to move on

But I know too well I was never ready.

I smiled and played along,

I greet with fake affection,

Then the heart felt too easy,

As though I gained back my emotions.

I know too well it is an act,

Yet I used you to devour something sweet,

However so, I’ll just keep it inside,

Keep it locked up even if we meet.

Too well I know it is just me,

Is this sudden change what I want to do?

Yet staring from afar is so pleasurable,

As I know too well I’d fail to capture you.

Then comes the angel from the past,

I’m scared to bits now – too frail to win,

Thus I shall retreat – but return to lend a shield,

So just let me be alone in the light.

A/N: I am fooling around lately...it's nothing serious, but pretending that it is I decided to write about it. Thanks to BECK Mongolian Chop Squad anime, it inspired me to write poems again. You may notice this one is less metaphoric than the rest. I personally love this title, cos it sounds new and different from the typical 'alone in the dark' phrase. I chose it right after I finished writing.
