They look at each other. Leda's eyes fill, and Stephen looks away and reaches over to the counter for some matches. He lights the cigarette in his mouth, but doesn't look back at his girlfriend.

"So. Um, what do you want me to do?" Stephen finally asks, breaking the uncomfortable silence. Leda sniffs and wipes away her tears before giving a reply.

"Well. I don't know. I just... I still want you here." She mutters. Stephen lets out a puff of smoke and sighs.

"Leda," He mumbles. "I don't want to leave but-"

"That's what they always say." Leda interrupts.

"I'm different."

"Why should I believe that?"

"Because I love you." The intensity at which Stephen said this surprises Leda but somehow she knows he's lying. He always has been a good liar. But as Stephen stares at her, Leda can't help but give in to him. He may not love her but she had always held a deep compassion for him that she didn't fully understand yet.

"I love you too." Leda says in defeat. Stephen grins his boyish grin and leans in to kiss her, knowing that he had won once more.

At home, Leda lets grief and loneliness take hold of her as she sobs at the loss of Stephen. She knew it was all her fault. She knew she didn't deserve Stephen, that she was lucky she could have been with him for even the smallest amount of time. She knew she let Stephen go. She was so stupid, so useless, so pathetic. No wonder Stephen had left. Who would want to be with someone like her?

Leda's mind drifts to the baby that she was carrying. Should she have told Stephen? Would it have made a difference? Was it too late to tell him now?

In a hurry, she picks up the phone and dials Stephen's phone number.

"Hello?" Leda hears Stephen's deep voice say.

"Stephen?" She asks. Stephen heaves a frustrated sigh.

"Leda..." He mutters. "Leda. I just said goodbye to you."

"I- I know," Leda stutters. "It's just there's something I need to tell you."

"Can it not wait until I'm back?"

"I don't know when you're back."

"Do you want to know when I'm back?"

"Stephen... it's really important." There's a pause before Stephen replies.

"Go on then." He says. Leda hesitates for a moment, but she knows that she to tell him.

"Stephen, I'm pregnant." Leda finally says. There's silence for a few minutes.

"Leda... I really have to go or else I'll miss my flight." Without waiting for a reply he hangs up. Leda weeps one again. She knows Stephen won't be back.

She knows Stephen too well.

A/N: Yeahhh... this kinda sucks, I know. I've never really worked with the present tense before so it was a little experiment. Also trying to overcome writer's block while trying to practise for my english exams tomorrow.

Alsooo, I couldn't think of a proper title for it. Any ideas?

Con. crit is appreciated as always.
