FYI, I am a girl, but this story is from a guy's perspective. Just to let ya know.

PROLOGUE

If I could go back before I was born, and change what was done to me, I don’t know if I would. I don’t know if the things I was created to do are able to compensate for the mistakes I’ve made. The one person who trusted me was the only one who ever suffered for my decisions. The only person who believed that I could save her if she ever needed saving was carved from forehead to chest and branded with grotesque symbols that surgery can’t erase.

I just wish that, one day, she can know who I am—all of who I am— and that I love her more than ever, but she can’t. No one can know that I love her, especially her. I don’t regret what I did. It wasn’t easy, and I wouldn’t ever want to go through it again, but I wouldn’t change what I did. I don’t think she would want me to.
