Anymore

Author's Note – Dedicated to my evil step-father. Who doesn't really even deserve this poem. But I figure poetry is good for expressing two emotions – love (which doesn't happen that much in my case) and hate (which happens too much around here). Here's one of the kind I don't see as much.

YOU
Are only the second big mistake
My mother has ever made.
Twelve years with you
Is thirteen years too many.

YOU
Inherited me.
I was a choice you made.
And your parenting license
Should be revoked

YOU
Said that I think I know
Everything
You also said
That I don't know anything
So.
Which is it?

YOU
Are never wrong!
You're the King, after all
And your wrath is mighty –
But it's all bark, and no bite.

I
Used to think that
You were someone
I had to please.
I used to care what you thought
About me.

I
Am not stupid.
I know the difference
Between someone whose opinions
Mean something
And someone
Who is a waste of my time.
Guess which one is you?

I
Won't play this game
Anymore.
I'll never win.
You won't even let me
Even the odds a little

I
Give
Up
