Standing Alone

The deafening, yet soothing sound of nothing,
Fighting to overcome the rumbling road.
The mountains loom over the bare desert,
As if to overccome and swallow it up.
A lone house, standing proudly defying
Both solitude and staring the mountains down,
Sits, almost as if leaning against the desert for support.
The smeel of earth mixes with the taste of sand,
Creating the color the house shows off.
