Hold On

Hold on to life

For as broken as it may seem

It's a gift to you and me

Going home from school

I guess there was ice on the roads

For now a woman aged thirty

Is never coming home

And her kids, too young to know

Will ask where Mommy is

And a man, will shiver

Next to the cold side of the bed

Hold on to life

For as broken as it may seem

It's a gift to you and me

Walking home from soccer

Just her and her little brother

But she never made it all the way

It was Friday afternoon

He had started partying too early

For a week there was hope

But in the end, her body couldn't cope

Brother, mother, father, left to go on

Hold on to life

For as broken as it may seem

It's a gift to you and me

So put down those pills

Put away that rope, that gun

Look around you and see those lost

See the shadows and grief left behind

Remember the children, stolen by disease

Accidents marked by a cross on the road

Look up to Heaven and whisper to God

And know He'll help you keep on livin'

Hold on to life

For as broken as it may seem

It's a gift to you and me

Oh hold on, hold on

You're going to make it

It'll be okay, your heavenly father's there

Just open your heart, let Him in

Your life's a gift from heaven

So keep on living

You've been given a second chance

So take it, start fresh and please

Hold on to life

For as broken as it may seem

It's a gift to you and me.
