Hello my old and new readers! I’m back with a new story that is a bit different than most of my other manga stories. But I really hope you enjoy this one!
Separate Worlds Collide
We all live in different worlds, we all have clicks that force you to be whom you aren’t. Though with some schools it isn’t as bad but at Palmyra Academy it’s a completely different story. In this school the clicks are powerful and won’t let one in if they don’t fit the part. But six students will change that when they unexpectedly cross paths with one another when a new student by the name of Kayden Scot comes whom is secretly the famous author called Riana Night. She hopes to develop a new story but ends up trying to bring the school together.
Chapter 1: New Opportunties
Palmyra, they said was such a peaceful town, it was so peaceful that even the dogs and cats got along. Maybe that’s over exaggerating a bit but that’s what people have always told me. They even told me that their academy was the best in the state it was the perfect school. They had the best teachers, the best staff, and the best food –which I’ll admit was very true-, they also had the best student body and it was the perfect place to make sweet wonderful memories. I believed those words every single one of them but I soon learned that not everything is what it seems…
Curtains flew open forcing the sun to blind a black haired boy. He yelped at the sudden blinding light and covered his head with his quilt.
“Rise and shine sleeping beauty!” Sung out a merrily twenty-three year old woman. She smiled down at his bed. “The sun is shining it’s comfortably warm making it the perfect day for school!”
She was very beautiful with flawless light tanned skin, curly shoulder length black hair and sparkling emerald green eyes.
The teen boy’s response was a groan, which almost sounded like an irritated growl and was still hiding himself under his covers
The young woman grumbled at the teen’s reaction. “Not this time pal!” She ripped off the covers revealing him in his red boxer shorts.
“Lisa!?” He yelped out loudly attempting to cover himself up.
She only snorted when he glared at her. “Oh this isn’t the first time I’ve seen you in your underwear.” Lisa tossed him his covers. “Now get up or you’ll be late again!”
Her gaze narrowed. “And I will not have mom chew off my head again like last week!”
The teen boy glared at her as she retreated his room and aimed towards the kitchen. “Stupid sisters.” He finally let out a rough sigh while getting out of bed. “Why didn’t I just agree to go with mom and dad while I had the chance? It would have made my life so much easier not to mention less stressful.” He then answered mocking himself like a girl. “Oh I know because I didn’t want to travel and leave my friends behind.” He scowled gently smacking his head as he strolled into the bathroom. “Man what was I thinking!” He slammed the door to prepare himself for the day ahead.
“ARGHHHH!” Lisa practically roared out stomping towards the fridge. She opened it aggressively. “Teenagers!”
“I see Allen gave you another tough time this morning, eh honey?”
Her gaze fell upon the gray gaze of her husband, Dylan Cole. Lisa rolled her eyes at her shaggy red head. “I swear I have no idea where he gets this attitude from.” After grabbed a bottle of juice she pointed at him. “But he better knock it off before I smack him!”
“Calm down Lisa remember, he’s seventeen.” He responded in attempts to comfort her. “He’s at that rebellious stage.” He moved his coffee cup to his lips. “Everyone goes through that.”
“But he’s been going through this…”rebellious” stage since mom and dad left on their tour.” She reminded her husband while pouring herself some juice. “He should be done with this stage by now, he’s almost eighteen an adult for crying out loud! He should not be acting like this he should be acting like an adult and getting his own ass up and to school.” She then murmured. “No matter how much he detests it.”
“True but you have to admit he’s a lot more mature than most teens of his generation or almost in any generation.”
“Only with some things.”
“And he’s not smoking or doing drugs.”
“That we know of.”
Dylan just shook his head. “Don’t go assuming anything.”
”It’s hard not too!” Lisa remarked defending herself in a slight whine. “Especially with him having this attitude all of a sudden.”
“Well hey high school can be pretty tough on a teen.” He defended the boy while putting his dishes in the sink. “Remember when we were teenagers?”
“Yeah but honestly Dylan high school isn’t that rough to change a person.”
“You’d be surprised.” He answered sounding a bit rough.
His remark caused his wife to tilt her head now puzzled by his statement.
Allen emerged from the hall; he was a very tall young man with shaggy black hair and looked to be pretty muscular. His gaze was baby blue, which stared into the kitchen blankly looking annoyed. He was wearing his school uniform that basically just included a black pair of pants and a white button up shirt. There is also a purple tie that went with it but he wasn’t wearing it. He never wore it, he felt like such a girl wearing purple.
Lisa noticed his grim, tired annoyed expression. This expression caused her to roll her eyes. “Why must you show us that face every morning and every evening?”
”Simple, I hate school.” He informed her blankly heading towards the counter grabbing a loaf of bagels.
His sister just shook her head. “Honestly just what happened to you Allen?” She caught his gaze watching him pull out a bagel. “You use to love school, so much that you hardly ever wanted to leave.”
”Obviously things change.” He replied gruffly with his gaze on his bagel.
“But why? Why the sudden change?”
Pulling the bagel apart he answered rudely. “And what makes you think I would tell you?”
“Oh I give up!” Lisa responded loudly releasing a loud frustrated breath. She stormed out towards the living room. “You are completely impossible!”
“Right back at ya!” Allen shot back pushing down the toaster lever as the TV went on.
“Allen.” He heard Dylan speak up glancing back at him as he grabbed his shoulder. He gave him a blank look. “Look I know school maybe rough but don’t go taking it out on your sister.” He pointed towards the living room. “She’s just worried about you.”
Allen groaned his gaze still narrowed while turning back to his bagel. “Whatever.”
Dylan just shook his head before retreating to the living room to find Lisa watching the news still taking sips of her juice.
“The famous young author Riana Night was on a talk show last week promoting her newest book that had just been printed a month ago.” The reporter announced before heading to the clip.
The clip contained a middle age black woman and a young teenaged girl with straight black hair. “I’m happy to introduce the youngest author to come forth in years…” Her blue gaze shifted towards the young teen with her hand held out smiling, “Riana Night.”
Allen came walking in once he heard the name as the camera moved towards the young girl. The teen had a bright smile with her chocolate gaze dancing with happiness while waving to the crowd.
“To imagine that this pretty little thing began writing children books at twelve and is now making her own novels!” The talk show woman exclaimed happily and went on. “Just last year she came out with her second novel Sorcerer Gracie. Which went number one in just one year which almost beat the score of her first novel, Kamille.” She picked up a book that was on her coffee table. “And now she’s returned to us to show us her newest book,” She raised it showing the crowd the book, “Knight Princess.”
“Oh wow she had another book out.” Dylan commented astound before gazing at his wife. “That girl sure as a lot of time to kill.”
“Well hey if you really enjoy something you always manage to find time to do it.” Lisa defended before waving her finger at the girl. “But I have read all of her books and I must say they are very impressive, considering how young she is.”
Her husband raised a brow. “You’ve read all of her books? Including her children books?”
“Well being a student kindergarten teacher you tend to read those types of books.” She reminded him crossing her arms. “And I must say she has become one of my favorite authors.”
Allen moved his glance from his sister and her husband to the TV screen.
“So what’s this novel about?” The talk show lady asked the short pretty teen.
“Oh well it’s obviously about a princess named Rose whom always dreamed about being a knight, but she can’t because of her status. But she doesn’t let that stop her and secretly disguises herself so she could learn how to be a knight but a young man named Leon catches on to her. But instead of busting her he helps her showing her kingdom what a princess can really do.” Riana suddenly chuckled. “So it’s again another girl power story with some action, romance and humor.”
“I must say though how do you find the time to write all these wonderful stories and get them out just a few months after one another?”
Riana shrugged. “The ideas just come to me and once they come I just have to write them down and before I know it the story’s done and ready to be published.” She then rolled her eyes. “Though it kind of helped that I was home taught most of my high school career.”
“Yes I’ve heard about that and that’s because your family travels a lot am I correct?”
“Yes we do because with my father being in the military we were moving constantly and my father never really bothered to enroll me in a school.”
“Which makes sense considering how much you guys travel.”
Riana nodded sighing softly. “Yeah.” She then smiled. “But I truly didn’t mind considering how much writing I got done.”
The talk show woman chuckled and patted her leg. “Very true. But now I hear that your father has retired from the military.”
“Yes he has and we have now settled down in a town which I am praying we’ll stay in for the rest of our lives.” She responded sounding hopeful before adding. “Well longer than we had been.”
“And I also hear that you will be going back to high school.”
Riana smiled and nodded. “That I am I finally convinced my father to let me go you know just to enjoy my last year of high school.”
The talk show lady leaned towards her slightly smirking. “You nervous?”
“A little bit but I’m sure it’ll pass.”
Allen finally sighed reaching the front door and grabbed his bag. “See ya.” He told his guardians and walked out the door.
Lisa just sighed shaking her head. “Just what is wrong with that boy?”
“Bye darling.” She heard her husband say before meeting his gaze as he gave her a peck. He gave her one last smile before walking out the door.
Lisa released a soft breath turning her gaze back at the TV.
“Oh look at my sweet baby girl!” Exclaimed an almost fifty-year-old man smiling lovingly at the small TV screen on the kitchen counter. He was taking sips of his coffee with his hazel gaze watching the screen with pride.
The tall man smiled over at his son whom was the age of twenty-one. “Doesn’t she look radiate David?”
David gazed with a knowing smile. “Dad you know my answer to that, no comment.” He went back to eating his cereal. “She’s my baby sister so there’s no way I’m going to say something like that about her.”
David was the exact image of his father; he was tall, lean with some muscles. He was very handsome with his blonde hair laying on his shoulders and his hazel gaze filled with laughter. “But I will admit this…” He spoke up motioning his milk towards the TV, “she is something to be proud of.”
His father nodded smiling warmly gazing at the TV. “She sure is. Just like her mother.” He then realized something and looked at his son questionably. “Speaking of which where is that girl? Shouldn’t she be down here by now?”
David sighed standing up and smiled at his father. “I’ll go fetch her. She was up late last night.”
“Doing what for pete’s sake?”
He shrugged. “Either getting her room set up or working on another story.”
“Well get her down here so she can eat and get to school.”
David gave him a slight soldier solute before retreating to the stairs. “Right on it.”
He strolled down the hall until he reached a room with the door wide open. He glanced around to find boxes on a homemade wooden bed with a purple and white quilt with red and pink flowers. There was a wooden end table standing near the bed with a clock radio, which read 12o’clock.
He rolled his eyes. ‘Looks like somebody forgot to set up their clock again.’ Unpacked boxes were pretty much scattered over the room. That’s when his gaze fell upon a figure whom was sound asleep at her desk, which was more set up than her room.
David shook his head smiling. “Figured that would be the first thing she sets up.” He went up towards the desk only to chuckle at the brunette teen snoring away laying on some loose pieces of paper.
“Kayden?” He whispered gently shaking her. “Come on kiddo wake up.” After a while of not getting a response from her he then practically shouted. “Kayden!”
The brunette shot up startled causing some of the paper to fly off of her desk. She darted her chocolate brown gaze and sighed with relief. “It’s just you.”
“Duh who else would it be?”
Kayden tilted her head raising a brow questionably. “What are you doing up?”
David looked at her oddly and answered. “It’s morning Kayden.”
“What!?” She tossed her gaze back towards her clock. “Seriously!?” She then groaned when she noticed her clock. “Damn it.” Kayden got up and went over by her clock picking it up. “This should have been the first thing I set up.”
“Ya think?” He questioned her rolling his gaze with amusement.
The teen looked over at him. “What time is it?”
“6:45.”
“Oh well I guess that’s not too bad.” She murmured rubbing her head.
“Yeah just be glad we were here to wake you up.”
She smiled at him. “Thank you my sweet older brother for doing such a good deed!”
“Just stop at the thank you.” David told her smirking. “I don’t want my sister thinking I’m sweet.”
Kayden just rolled her eyes. “Whatever.” She put down her radio clock.
David noticed the paper and chuckled. “Can’t go one minute without writing can you?”
“Heck no!” She remarked with a knowing smirk. She strolled up to him. “David you should know me by now. Writing is one of the main things you will ever find me doing.”
“Yeah which is really making me grateful you are going back to school.” He commented rolling his eyes. “So you can actually do other things besides writing.”
“I still find it amazing that I actually convinced dad to let me go to high school.” Kayden brought up with an odd stare crossing her arms. “I was sure he wouldn’t let me go even if pigs flew out of my nose.”
“Trust me he probably wouldn’t.” His expression became happy with cockiness. “But I was the one that convinced him to let you go.”
“Seriously?”
He nodded. “Yeah.” He nudged his sister slightly. “I don’t want to see my sister continuing to spend her youth locked up in a house forcing her to write for the rest of her days.”
“Like anyone’s really forcing me.” She commented rolling her gaze sarcastically.
“But still Riana Night needs a break from all that writing. I know she does.” He then questioned. “Do you honestly want to go through life without any friends outside of our family? Do you honestly really want to spend the rest of your days as an old lady with no one to spend the rest of your life with?”
Kayden looked away shyly. “No.”
David smiled and patted her shoulder. “Then be glad I convinced dad or else you would end up being a crazy old lady who lives all alone in an attic still writing.”
“I seriously doubt that!” She commented abruptly.
He shrugged. “One can never be too careful.” He then smiled and gently smacked his forearm against her arm. “Now get dressed and come down the kitchen and eat before you end up being late.”
Kayden nodded smiling. “Alright.” He then left the room shutting her door allowing her to get dressed in privacy.
“David are you sure this is a good idea?” Their father suddenly questioned feeling nervous about his little girl going to school.
“Yeah dad Kayden needs this and you know that.”
His father quickly plopped down on the seat next to him. “But she’ll be going to high school! And high school can be very brutal especially for one who’s not sure to it.”
“Kayden is a tough cookie she’ll get through it.”
“But what if she can’t!” The retired soldier asked desperately as he went on nervously. “What if she comes home one day crying because someone harmed her or threatened her?”
“You’re over exaggerating.” David told him blankly while reading the newspaper comics.
“But what if it happens!” He covered his eyes sounding like he was crying. “I don’t think my heart would take it if I saw her crying.”
His son sighed roughly rolling his eyes and glanced at him. “Honestly dad-”
“And what about those…boys?” His father suddenly cut him off finding the old man glaring at him with his finger pointed at him. “Boys will be at that high school and I don’t want my only daughter to mettle with them!”
“Dad boys are everywhere, not just at school.” David shook his head. “You can’t honestly expect to keep her hidden from them forever.”
“I can most certainly try!”
“No dad.” His son responded sternly. “Kayden needs to start living her own life.”
“She is too! She’s a writer now isn’t that enough?”
David gazed knowingly at him. “Do you honestly think that’s enough?”
He watched his father flinch before grumbling moving his gaze away shyly knowing his son was right. “Kayden has become very successful in the business world and she’s not even eighteen yet.” His son went on lecturing him. “But that life never gave her the chance to be a child and be a teen and don’t you think Kayden deserves to have a life outside of her writing.” He went back to his comics. “There’s more to life than money and having a job. I believe that to be successful doesn’t mean just being successful with your job but also at life in general.” He glanced at his father. “Which means getting married, settling down and just being able to life happily with no regrets. If one can accomplish all their goals and are fully happy with their decision than they are successful.”
The old man blinked at his son for a while watching his son drink his milk. He raised a brow and asked. “Since when did you become so smart and wise?”
“Well someone in this family has to reasonable in order to keep this family in line.” He smirked at his father. “And also to defend Kayden’s case.”
His father narrowed his gaze slightly and opened his mouth to rely. “Hey guys?”
The two snapped their attention towards the stairs to find Kayden just walking onto the kitchen platform. Her gaze sparkled and twirled around. “What do you think?”
Her school uniform consisted of a purple skirt that reached an inch above her knees, a white button up long sleeved shirt with a purple vest that curved out her thin hourglass figure. Her socks were reached up just a few inches under her knees and black shoes.
“I must say I do look good in purple!”
Her father grumbled narrowing his gaze slightly. “It looks a bit too revealing for a girl your age.”
“Huh?” Kayden tilted her head raising a brow. “How so?”
He abruptly stood up and pointed at her. “That skirt is too short!”
Kayden and David sweat dropped at his remark. “It’s not that short.”
“I swear that is one thing I hate about these academies!” He began to rant going back towards the counters sounding angry. “They always make the girls where the skirts and not pants!”
Kayden chuckled weakly with a sweat drop. “Well I’m sure they can’t make the boys where the skirts.” ‘Though that would be hilarious…weird and awkward but funny.’
“If those school board people are trying to get students to wear less revealing clothes they shouldn’t force the girls to wear skirts!” He waved his hand towards his daughter with a slight glare. “Since if a breeze comes by it could easily make the skirt fly up and show everyone their underpants! Which is something I do not want any boy to see, not on my daughter especially!”
Kayden rolled her eyes. “Dad you are over reacting.” She went to the cabinets and took out a bag of pop tarts.
“No I’m not it can really happen!” He argued gazing back at his daughter.
“I wore skirts all the time and you never complained about them.”
“That’s because no boys would be seeing ya besides me and David!”
“Honestly dad.” She faced him with her hands on her hips. She motioned her hands towards the skirt. “This isn’t short. Believe me I’ve seen skirts way shorter than this.” She opened her pop tart bag. “And there’s no way you’ll catch me wearing something like that.”
“No kidding you won’t.” Her father snorted stubbornly. “Because I won’t let you leave the house if I ever saw you wearing something like that!”
David and Kayden just shook their heads before gazing at one another. ‘I swear dad can be completely impossible sometimes.’ Kayden sighed out while popping a pop tart piece in her mouth. ‘It must have taken David all of his energy and patience to convince dad to actually let me attend an actual high school.’
Her gaze went up towards the clock it read 7:05. “Oh I better get going.”
“Huh?” The men responded watching her retreat towards the living room. She grabbed her book bag from the hanging hooks.
“Wait!” She heard her father call out catching her glance. She flinched when she spotted him looking at her with a watery gaze. “You’re going already?”
Kayden smiled weakly. “Well dad school starts at eight and I still have to walk a couple blocks to get there. I also have to get my schedule and my locker and find my classes. So I want to get there early enough so I can accomplish all that before classes actually start.”
David gave her a toast. “Smart thinking sis.”
She tossed him a warm smile but quickly faded when she heard her father beginning to cry. Kayden turned her gaze just in time to get embraced by her father. “Oh Kayden, my sweet little Kayden, don’t go! I don’t want you to go!”
The writer chuckled lightly patting his back. “I…I know dad but I’m going to have too.”
“Nooo!” He cried out loudly with tears streaming down his cheeks. “Don’t go Kayden!”
“Hehehe dad you’re making it hard to breath.”
“Seriously dad.” David stepped him pulling his father back forcing him to release the young writer. “Just let her go will ya? She’s almost eighteen dad you can’t keep treating her like a baby forever.”
“No! I can’t believe this I’m losing my baby!” He cried out before retreating towards the stairs crying out. “Noooooo!”
The siblings’ sweat dropped at his retreat as Kayden chuckled weakly with her mouth and eyebrow twitching. “Dad…surely is something…isn’t he?”
“Moving on…” David spoke up catching her attention as he turned to face her with a smile. He gave her a one-arm hug. “Have fun at school.”
Kayden smiled and returned the slight hug, she pulled away and gave him a solute. “You got it!”
Allen strolled down the sidewalk still taking bites of his last bagel. ‘I can’t believe Riana Night is going back to school. Though I expected it sooner or later but…she looked really happy about it.’ His gaze narrowed. ‘How can anyone be that happy about attending school? Honestly if I were her I wouldn’t dare enroll myself in school and just be home taught the rest of my life.’
Kayden sighed roughly remembering her father’s reaction. “Dad is such a nut case.” ‘Though I can’t blame him for his concerns, but still I’m not a child!’ Her gaze narrowed raising her head with pride and determination. ‘I am almost eighteen an adult! I need to start living my own life outside of my writing.’
‘But…’ She began fiddling with her fingers nervously, ‘what if I end up making a complete fool of myself? This is my first time being in a high school and of what I’ve seen on TV it can be very brutal.’ She then thought in horror. ‘And what if I end up making enemies! That would be way worse than making a fool of myself!’
The writer immediately shook her head and told herself with determination. “No Kayden don’t talk like that! Even if you do make a fool of yourself or make an enemy all you have to do is work things out!” ‘That’s what mom told me to do anyway.’
She turned the corner only to smack into someone knocking her onto the ground. “OOF!”
“HEY!” Kayden flinched at the shout, which sounded angry. She slowly raised her gaze meeting the angry gaze of Allen whom was still standing up. “Watch where the hell you are going klutz!”
Kayden jerked back before glaring at him shouting. “Excuse me!?”
“Look what you made me do!” He went on loudly pointing down. She followed his finger to notice the half eaten on the ground. “I was in the middle of eating that ya know!”
She glared back at him. “I figured that much I’m not stupid!”
“Well you could have fooled me!” He retorted hotly gazing at her blankly with annoyance.
With that stare she knew he had insulted her once again. She scowled. “Listen pal I don’t know what you problem is…” She stood up, “but you shouldn’t be taking your frustrations out on me. I didn’t even do anything!”
“Yeah expect make me lost half my breakfast and almost knocking me over!”
“Oh I am so sorry.” Kayden began to apologize mocking him. She waved her hand towards him. “Are you hurt? Are you bleeding anywhere? Do you have any broken bones? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
Allen flinched slightly muttering. “No.”
“Then you’ll live! You just lost your breakfast that can easily be replaced.” The young writer went on scolding him. “You’re life is more important than your stupid bagel.”
He blinked as she continued to rant on. “And the last time I checked I was the one on the ground since I highly doubt a girl my size could knock down a bit tough guy like you.”
”Okay okay I get it jeez!” He finally stepped in waving his hands signaling defeat. “You don’t have to rub it in.”
“I’m not rubbing it in I’m just pointing out facts.” Kayden pointed out defending herself.
Allen grumbled hating the fact that this girl was actually making him feel bad about how he reacted. He snorted turning away. “Whatever.” He then stormed off across the street continuing his way towards his school.
Kayden only rolled her eyes before following him. Allen got the vibe he was being followed and glanced over his shoulder.
He scowled when he spotted the girl walking behind him. “Don’t follow me!” He barked out coming to a halt.
She jerked startled by his angry outburst. The young writer’s gaze then narrowed. “Who said I was following you? I just so happen to be on my way to school which may I mention is in this direction.”
That’s when Allen took notice of her uniform, he groaned when he recognized the clothing. “Oh great.” His slowly rose to meet hers’. “Don’t tell me you heading towards Palmyra Academy?”
Kayden crossed her arms continuing to glare at him. “Yes, got a problem with that?”
“Argh! Thank you so much!” He replied with a rough frustrated tone. He glared –attempting to look hateful- at her. “You just put more of a damper on my day!”
Kayden fidgeted in anger watching the boy storm down the street. She couldn’t hold her tongue any longer. “Just what the hell is your problem?”
Allen came to a halt and turned just as Kayden stomped up towards him. He jerked back surprised by her sudden close appearance.
“Why are you acting like such a creep?” The young writer began scolding him loudly. “I hardly even did anything to you! Besides making you lose your breakfast, which is the stupidest thing to ever get upset about!”
He flinched back but argued. “Says you! I didn’t see your breakfast on the ground!”
“ARGH!” Kayden practically roared out in frustration. “I swear I’ve never met someone as much as a jerk as you!”
Allen found himself somewhat surprised by her comment but narrowed his gaze as he shot back. “Well if I’m such a jerk why are you even bothering to talk to me?”
“Because!” She shouted out before grunting glaring blankly at him. “I refuse to make an enemy on my first day.”
The anger suddenly rushed out of him and he looked at her in surprise responding softly. “You’re new?”
Kayden stared at him for a second before digging into her bag. She took out a candy bar she had stashed away. “Here.” She held it out towards him.
The boy gazed at it for a moment before slowly raising his eyes to meet her. “Again I’m sorry for making you lose your breakfast that was never my intention. So I pray this makes up for it.”
He glared snorting his gaze away. “I don’t need your stupid candy bar!”
Kayden groaned angrily narrowing her gaze and grabbed his hand.
“Hey!” He yelped out loudly.
She ripped open his hand and placed the candy bar in it. “Just take it!” Closing his hand she went on. “Since it’s obvious you need it more than I do.”
Allen’s gaze went hard knowing she was a connecting his behavior with his hunger. He opened his mouth to argue.
“Please just take it will you!” She pleaded loudly knowing he was going to argue with her. She then sighed softly. “Please just let me make up for what happened. The least thing I want is to make an enemy over something as stupid as accidentally bumping into them. That would just be childish.”
The writer took a step back meeting his face and noticed he wasn’t glaring at her anymore. His face still looked annoyed but his expression looked almost impressed mainly surprised.
Kayden went on firmly. “And I am not childish. So again I apologize for making you lose your breakfast and for running your day and I hope we can put this whole mess behind us.”
Allen blinked in amazement watching her as she walked pass him. He turned slightly continuing to watch her leave his sight, he sighed gazing down at the candy bar. ‘I guess…that was a bit…childish of me.’
He raised his gaze to stare down the sidewalk. ‘I guess her being new would be why I don’t recognize her.’
Kayden stood in the front of a two level white and tanned brick building. She smiled finding herself pretty excited. ‘Finally! I’m at a real high school no more being cooped up in my room or my house listening to my dad’s boring oldies music. So many opportunities are waiting just behind those doors.’
She folded her hands together thinking happily. ‘I might make cool new friends!’ She held her face smiling lovingly. ‘And I might actually get a boyfriend! Oh that’ll be so awesome!’ Kayden then flinched remembering something. ‘I just have to make sure dad doesn’t meet him or else he will have a total fit much worse than this morning.’
Two female students suddenly walked pass her and towards the door. She began to fidget nervously. ‘W-Why am I so nervous? It’s not like this school is evil or something.’ Kayden narrowed her gaze and gently slapped her cheeks shining with determination. “Get a hold of yourself Kayden! Let’s do this!”
She then marched into the building and gaped gazing widely at the sight of students from freshman to seniors strolling in the halls chatting and walking with one another. Her gaze moved from one side of the hall to the other observing the new atmosphere.
‘Oh wow!’ She walked further into the hall still watching the other students. ‘This is exactly how I imaged this school to look like.’ She smiled suddenly excited. ‘It looks like the ones I’ve seen on TV!’
“Okay first things first.” Kayden began walking through the halls. “I must find the office.” ‘That shouldn’t be too hard right.’
The writer raised her gaze and jerked sweat dropping when she found herself staring at a huge sign saying Main Office, which was right beside her. “Oh well that surely didn’t take too long.” She then walked inside. ‘Guess with it having two floors lots of students have gotten lost trying to find the office.’
Her entrance caught the attention of the lady at the desk. “Oh good morning.” She got up from her chair and met Kayden at the front desk. She was a middle-aged woman with her red hair slowly turning gray with her blue eyes smiling at her. “May I help you with something dear?”
Kayden nodded. “Uh yes I’m Kayden Scot and I’m here to get my schedule and things.”
“Oh! You’re the new student I’ve heard about.” The woman quickly scrambled to the file cabinet. “Just hang on a moment and we’ll get you taken cared of.”
The young writer smiled while gazing around the office. It looks pretty cozy with walls colored tanned with beautiful paintings hanging above the chairs were the students would sit. There was a hall that led down the principle office and some other offices she turned her gaze over towards the front desk besides the long cornered like desk were two windows that could slide open making it look like a drive through window.
“Here we are.” Kayden immediately turned her attention towards the woman as she reappeared in front of her. The woman smiled while handing her the sheet of paper. “Welcome to our school and I pray you enjoy it here.”
She smiled taking the sheet of paper gladly. “I most certainly will!” And with that she raced out of the office in search of her locker. ‘Let the opportunities begin!’
