The sun beamed down as two figures danced with one another in a warm, beautiful courtyard. They spun and twirled, the wind rustling the leaves of the trees they danced under. The girl laughed warmly as she floated into the air, the vines and flowers stretching out to her as if offering their praises, curling out and reaching for her as the boy floated up with her. Floating in mid-air, the couple locked each other in a kiss, but their happiness was soon interrupted by another creature.
“Look!” a small rabbit called out in a high, squeaky voice. “It’s him!” the rabbit pointed, before turning to stone, a mask of horror painted upon its face.
The couple turned to look, but there was nothing they could do as the vines, the trees, the flowers, the creatures, all turned to stone before them. They fell from the sky, unable to sustain their magic without the nature that fed it, but before they could determine what had caused this destruction, it had disappeared into the shadows, its laugh ever menacing as it faded from sight and sound.
The ground beneath the couple hardened and greyed, turning to stone before their eyes as they watched in horror. Their once bountiful courtyard had turned from its loving beauty into a barren wasteland of stone, without so much as a blade of grass piercing the rock that covered it. The animals were frozen in place, fear and pain lining their rock faces; nothing had escaped the cruel embrace of death but the two who had sought to protect nature from this vicious wrath.
