Memory

By Feeré Goroné

As I sit in a darkened room,

I reflect upon all the paths,

That I have tread.

I recall being surrounded,

My sword knocked from my hand,

The four enemies closed in…

They strike!

And though I bleed and die, I gather,

My courage;

Destroying whilst being destroyed.

But eternal peace could not find me,

Not while the war goes on,

Even after my death,

Even when everything is torn from me.

Severing myself seems enough,

Keeping for myself, only memories;

To be kept forever more.

A clean slate, a blank sheet;

That is what I sent with the Goddess.

But now we are reunited,

Two as one once more.

And now I remember another life,

One honoured and remembered,

But never named,

For I hold within myself,

The only key.

I stand at that life’s final tomb,

Letting the memories sink in,

As I sit in a darkened room,

I pledge to return.
