I'm addicted to the feeling of my heart leaping as I raise my head and see the stars. However, this particular night, my heart didn't jump up to join the stars. It felt leaden, hard and heavy in my chest, filled with the kind of sadness that is hard to shake.

The reason for this sadness?

My parents were splitting up.

And there, on that cold winter night, the stars beckoned, called for me to dance under them with joy, but that night I could not answer.
