Smiles and laughter are slowly forgotten

All the happy memories are gone

Moments of joy fade away

Even though you try to hold on

.

Kind words are lost in time

While the hateful ones stay

You can hear them in your head

And they refuse to go away

.

There’s nothing we can do

It’s like our mind is our foe

Fighting against us

Letting the good times go

.

Memories burn away

Like the end of a cigarette

Oh can you pleas tell me why

We only remember what we want to forget
