McGraw2

Narrator: The terrified little girl nodded and Jupiter ran back to the hallway, adrenaline rising. The door was open; he could see Valasia. She stood on a platform looking out towards the north. She was beautiful and terrible. He entered the room, and stood a few feet behind her.

Jupiter: Valasia! You have to stop this! You’re killing everyone, and abusing your powers.

Valasia: *out of breath* It’s too late. They’re losing. But there will be enough to conquer the next town.

Jupiter: You can’t! I won’t let you! You’re killing the only person who could ever be a friend to me. I won’t let you!

Valasia: I will control you like all those other worthless beings fighting for me. You will be sorry!

Narrator: She turns around, glowing white, and screams when she looks into Jupiter’s sorrowful, angry eyes. She falls to the ground. Jupiter jumps back, but slowly approaches the villainess. She lies motionless with her face pressed against the floor. Then she gasps for air, startling our hero.

Valasia: What’s wrong with you?

Jupiter: I didn’t do anything!

Valasia: Your power! What is it? TELL ME!

Jupiter: I-I don’t have a power. *confused*

Valasia: What? How can this happen?

Jupiter: What? How can what happen?

Narrator: Valasia tried to stand up, but fell to her knees. She was a sickly figure, and she started to age right before Jupiter’s eyes. She looked worse than the people she’d forced to fight, and this terrified Jupiter anymore.

Jupiter: What’s happening to you?

Valasia: *growls* My powers were overtaken by you, worthless man, when I looked into your conscience through your eyes! I am nothing!

Jupiter: *whispers to self in realization* Her powers, they’re gone! *to Valasia* But how? What did I do?

Valasia: All the powers in the world are no match for a pure, sincere conscience.

Narrator: Valasia collapsed again, not dead but exhausted and defeated. Jupiter remained where he was, reflecting on what had just happened.

Jupiter: They’ll come home now. Audrey, and all the other people. They’re safe. *calls* Laura!

Narrator: The little girl came and they embraced, neither knowing exactly what just occurred. Both now knew, for their rest of their lives, that all humans can live together, regardless of class or power. Jupiter never went back to his little old shack. He knew he didn’t need a power to be happy in Ood; he’d be remembered as a hero.
