~ Betrayal ~

They smile and lie straight to my face

While whispering hateful words behind my back

They look at me like I am a disgrace

Yet they will never say it out loud to me

.

Their deceptions leave me so confused

Why can’t they tell the truth?

Why does it always feel like I’m used

In their shameful, mindless games

.

Do you believe their lies?

Have you heard what they are saying?

Can you look me in the eyes

And tell me it doesn’t matter

.

Because I know you’ve heard it too

And I know you laughed at me

In time I might forgive you

But I will never forget

.

I still remember what they said

In envy and in hate

The rumors that were spread

To make my life miserable

.

There is nothing that can justify

The part you played in this

And I’ll never understand why

You betrayed me like you did
