Natalie was the first to break the silence as the three walked home. “So, Fiona. How do you stand living in a place like this?”

“What do you mean?”

“There’s like, no technology. Anywhere. Yeah, you have a refrigerator, but that’s no fun. There aren’t any cars, or TVs, or phones, or computers, or anything! What the hell do you do all day?”

“Really, now. This kind of life isn’t so bad if you’re used to it. You only don’t know that, because you’re so used to your own lifestyle. The things you Terrans can do with electricity are impressive, but we don’t truly know the difference in this world.”

“I dunno. If I lived here all my life and heard of all the stuff people have on Earth, I’d be jealous.”

“I suppose we’re simply different in that aspect.”

“Maybe. Seriously, though, you have no idea what you’re missing. You’ve never heard of the internet, have you?”

Fiona shrugged. “I’ve heard some things, but nothing I could understand.”

“Natalie, she wouldn’t be interested in all that stuff,” Amy cut in with a bored tone. “The internet is only good for porn.”

Natalie stared at her friend for a moment, not saying anything, and suddenly burst out laughing.

“I’ m serious,” Amy protested. “I can’t do anything without running into something sexual. Comments, pictures, or videos. Don’t tell me you’ve never searched for something on Google only to find a bunch of that filth.”

“That’s funny, Ames, I didn’t know they put porn on Bible sites now. Or are you saying you read stuff other than that book? I had no idea.” Natalie still couldn’t keep the smile off her face.

“Porn?” Fiona glanced back at the two with a confused expression.

“What about it?” Amy asked. “Oh, you wouldn’t know what that is, would you? Consider yourself fortunate.” She pretended to gag.

“Basically,” Natalie started to explain, “Some people like to have sex and take pictures or make a movie out of it. That’s porn.”

This new information seemed to sink in slowly for Fiona, and she finally responded with a disgusted expression. “Oh, that. I’ve never understood, why would anyone be interested in such things?”

“No idea,” Amy told her. “But for some reason, it’s an industry worth millions of dollars.”
