I haven't penned a tune

In quite some time

anything I write

just sounds so wrong

Like water in a desert

Thoughts can't be found

I thirst for inspiration

But I have crawled towards

Another mirage

Here's the best that I could do

I can't stop the desire to create

Yet nothing comes when I want it to

I sit with my guitar

form some simple plan

that anyone could play

with beginner's hands

Pages filled with muddy scribbles

Jumbled thoughts, none concise

None convey what I want

My heart speaks in disguise

Lord, this gift you've given me

Feels more like a curse

I just want to please my Master

With a chorus and with verse.

All my melodies are murky

and the words are even worse.

Remove this flesh that filters faith

Let my heart be filled with your song.
