"Perhaps that is why I am his anger target. My resemblance of my mother? I don't know and I guess I shouldn't dwell on it. She's gone and our life is the way it is." Ravyn, a 17 year old girl, lives with her father who turned abusive shortly after her mother died while Ravyn was still a child. One day things with her father go too far. Ravyn runs into the woods where she meets Adian. After this night things for Ravyn will never be the same again as she finds that the world is a very different place from what she had originally thought, as creatures only believed to be fantesy are very real.
Prologue: Early Morning Light
I am walking through the woods, fog hugging the trees. It was dusk or early morning. Only a little light was showing through the branches as I walk ahead. I'm looking for someone. But who? Why am I looking for this person when I have no clue as to who it is? I don’t know, it’s just a feeling I have. I have to look, to find this being and when appearing, I’ll know. I'll know that it’s who I’ve been searching for. So I continue to walk.
The light quickly disappears and soon it’s dark, yetstill I search. It’s cold, my breath is able to be seen in white puffs. My legs have become tired and heavy. I want to sit, to rest but I can’t, I must continue. Forcing my aching legs to carry on I walk forth.
Just as I feel although I’m going to collapse I see a figure ahead of me. Draped in a black hooded cape, nothing is visible. Even his face is shrouded in the shadows.
He’s the one, the one I’ve been searching for, I know it. My feet carry me foreword. My mind tells me to be cautious, but the though barley passed through my head before my mind goes blank.
The figure looked up as if just noticing my presence. I can make out two gold iris’ in the shadows. The mist around him becomes thicker, then spreads out clearing away all fog with it as it moves, so that it is circled around us.
Once about seven feet away I stop walking. We stare at each other for I don’t know how long. He takes a few steps foreword and I try to take a few steps back, to regain that small bit of distance lost. But with effort I hold still. He continues moving toward me and I, surprisingly, take a step toward him. We are now close enough to touch each other.
I look up to his face, the man’s taller than he looks; that’s tall considering the face that I’m 5’9” and have to arch my neck a slight bit to look him in the eye. His face is clearer now and I can make out a strong jaw with high cheek bones, though not too prominent. In my opinion that face looks like a sculpture the artist spent years on to make it perfect.
But it’s his eyes that mesmerize me, two lovely drops of honey shining in the night. Suddenly I notice how close we are, our chests are barely far apart enough to slide a piece of paper between us without touching. Suddenly his lips are on mine and it’s the best thing I’ve ever felt; feeling although I’m floating on cloud nine. All too soon he pulls away and I open my eyes, I didn't even know that I closed them.
The next thing I know, darkness surrounds him, and in less then a second it’s all gone, he’s gone. I see nothing.
A growl behind me makes me turn, fast. A lynx, white with spots blacker than the darkest of ink, comes crawling out of the trees. To say I’m petrified is putting it mildly. Green eyes stare intently at me, stopping the scream in my thought. The oddest thing then happens instead of attacking, the cat comes up to me and starts rubbing against my legs. This night is just full of surprises. I slowly go to my knees and start to rub the animal’s head. I must be out of my mind.
The lynx then licks my cheek. Yup, I’ve gone crazy. I’m letting a wild, untamed, carnivorous animal lick my face. Yet somehow I feel at ease. As if all my worries are being washed away, and I mean that quite literally.
I my head to look into the cat’s green eyes to my surprise their not full of hunger, but are soft and look almost human. Intelligence shows through, not something you see in the eyes of your everyday lynx. Not that I’ve ever been close look into one of the creatures eyes before.
Things start going hazy and the cat disappears and in it’s place stands a new man with dark brown eyes. For some unknown reason fear overcomes me. The last thing I remember is him reaching out to me, before all became disfigured.
The next thing I knew was that I was opening my eyes to see the white ceiling of my bedroom above me, early morning light shining through the window.
My first story up on fictionpress, wow. I have many written but I'm to picky of a writer to post them, but probally will eventually. Something was brought to my attention by a helpful writter. I have based nothing in this story from the Twilight series, I first started writing this story 6 years ago, and I have changed nothing since then except the plot.
I also want you to remember that things aren't always what they seem, the dream may seem like one thing but really mean another. Just keep that in mind.
One more thing, I love all my readers but I'll love you even more if you review. All you have to do is click that little button down there. Pleaxe review and give you honest opinion, even if you hate this story from the bottom of your soul (tell me why of course) Okay, I'm done wasting your time. So, bye.... and review! Heh-heh, thanks. ;)
