Title:

Beautiful Bailey.

-

Bhrade rubbed his hands together anxiously, Bailey was going to be here any second. She had agreed to meet him in the parking lot of his school, then he was going to drive them to get food and then drive up movie theater, very old-school.

He checked his watch; she would be here any second.

Bhrade wasn’t normally this nervous when seeing a girl, in fact, he had never been this nervous before, even when they had gone on their first date. Probably because that date had been a double date, but this was different, it was all up to him now.

He was sitting on the hood of his 1968 Shelby Mustang, Bailey loved old cars. He had gotten it washed just for the date, he had spent an hour cleaning out the inside too, even planting an air freshener under the dash so it couldn’t be seen but would still smell nice.

He looked up and saw a green Honda Element coming into the parking lot, he hopped off his car and flagged it down. Bailey pulled into the spot that he had saved next to his own car, even through the tinted glass he could see how pretty she was. She looked through the glass back at him and smiled.

His heart stopped.

Bailey got out of her car and shut the door looking at him, “Hey.”

“H-hey, um, you ready?” he asked, taking a couple steps towards her. They had spoken only a couple times since the double date with Jaide and Blaize, she had said nothing about the kiss that they had shared.

She adjusted the purse on her shoulder, “Yep, I think so.”

He reached for his passenger door and opened it for her, closing it as softly as possible after she got in. He hurried to his side of the car and got in as well, “How are you?” he asked as he pumped the gas pedal a couple times before putting the clutch in and turning the key.

“Good...really good actually, you?” She turned in the seat when she spoke, giving him her full attention.

“I’m doing great.” He tried to sound casual as he pulled out of the parking space, “What are you hungry for?”

“Well depends, what kind of movie are we seeing?”

“There’s a romance and an action one playing.” He wanted to see that action one of course, romance movies didn’t really interest him, but he was totally into seeing it if she wanted.

“How about the action one?” she suggested.

He glanced over at her, she was so pretty and it was like she didn’t even try, that’s why he liked it so much. She was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt with a light jacket over it. She was wearing a very minimal amount of make-up and her smooth wavy hair was down, she had pulled it to one side though, so it all came over one shoulder so she could run her fingers through it. He wanted to do that.

“Bhrade?” she asked.

“Huh?”

“The action movie? Can we watch that one?”

“Oh, yeah, yeah, of course. Whatever you want to see is great.”

She smiled and he swung his eyes back to the road lest he get in an accident.

“Cool...unless you wanted to see the sappy romance?”

“No, no, action, yep, action is good. What kind of food goes good with action?”

“Well...to be honest I really tried to be hungry for tonight, I haven’t eaten anything since this morning but I’m really not feeling hungry.”

He was alarmed right away, “Do you not feel well? We can reschedule.”

“No, that’s not it, I’m just not real hungry, fries and a milk shake sound good though.”

“Are you sure?” he felt a little sick to his stomach also, butterflies.

“I’m very sure, there’s a cool drive-up burger place on the way to the theater. If you want, that is.”

“That sounds great, I’d normally get a burger but...I’m not that hungry either.” he said, he switched on his blinker the change lanes.

“Don’t say that just because I’m not--”

“No, really, Bailey I...I have butterflies...is that totally lame?” he glanced over at her quickly.

“No, no, I have butterflies too, that’s probably why I’m not hungry.” She smiled bashfully, “Let’s just get some fries and relax, we can always eat afterwards if we get hungry.”

God she was so smart. “Yeah...cool.” he was glad that she understood, she was pretty good at making him feel comfortable.

Bhrade spotted the burger place she was talking about and pulled up to the window.

A bright, older lady greeted him, “Hello there! What can I get for you?”

“Um, the biggest order of fries you got. And...” he turned to Bailey, “What kind of milkshake?”

“Strawberry.”

He turned back to the lady, “Two strawberry milkshakes.”

“What size?”

“Big as you got.”

“Okie dokie, will that be all?”

“Do you have any...like candy in there? Like something they would have at the movies?”

“We sure do, you name it and we probably got it.”

“Sour Patch Kids?” Bailey asked.

“Sure do, a big box.”

“One of those too.” Bhrade said. “Anything else?” he asked Bailey.

“Nope.”

“Okay, that’s all.” He said to the lady in the window.

He paid for the food and they got it almost immediately, the order of fries was huge, it made Bailey smile when he set it on the seat between them. The milk shakes were also huge, he handed them to Bailey and then tossed the Sour Patch Kid’s on the seat beside the fries. The drive-up movie theater was just a few minutes away and Bhrade pulled in, paid, and found a parking spot.

He tuned the radio to the correct station so they could hear the previews that were showing and looked over at Bailey.

“We still got a few minutes.” He said, taking one of the shakes from her and setting it on his side of the dash, out of the way of the screen.

“Yep...” she took a sip of her pink milk shake, “So how are Blaize and Jaide?”

“Good...yeah, they seem good.”

“Cool...” she took another sip of her milkshake.

Bhrade glance over at her, this was so awkward, why was it so damn awkward? He looked at the movie screen and sighed, he really wanted this date to go well but he never dated, not like this, he didn’t have a lot of experience at this sort of thing.

“Bhrade?”

He looked at her; he absolutely loved it when she said his name.

“This doesn’t have to be so weird...it wasn’t this weird last time.” She sounded genuine.

He didn’t know what to say, “I...I’m sorry if I’m making you uncomfortable. I don’t...I don’t go on a lot of dates...normally I just skip the...date part? Wow that sounded really bad, I'm sorry.”

“I’m not uncomfortable, it’s just...here.” She grabbed the pack of candy and set it on the dash and then switched places with the fries. She now sat directly beside him, she looked up and smiled shyly.

“I’m sorry...was that...?” she hesitated for a moment.

“No, that’s great, yeah, okay, no more awkwardness. I mean, we’ve hung out twice before and kissed even. This is just real casual, NBD.”

“Yep, NBD.” She pulled the fries onto her lap and took a couple, “Your car smells nice by the way.”

“Thanks.”

“You changed the oil too, right?”

He looked down, surprised, “Yeah...how did you know?”

She looked away from his gaze and blushed, “It shifted a little smoother then the last time I was in it, is all...you adjusted the idle too, I noticed when we were stopped at the burger place.”

He nodded, “It was idling a little slow for this colder weather.” She seemed shy to talk about his car even though she really knew her stuff, “I think it’s cool that you like cars so much.”

“Really?” She smiled brightly.

“Well yeah, why not?”

She shrugged, “I’ve gone on dates with a couple of guys that thought it was stupid for a girl to know more about their cars than they did.”

“Well they should get to know their cars better. Now this thing,” he patted the dash, “I know her like the back of my hand. I think it’s really attractive that you are interested in cars, but honestly, I wouldn’t peg you for it, you look total girly-girl me, no offense.”

“None taken, I totally am a girly-girl, I just happen to like cars. I like getting dressed up in heels and pretty dresses but I’m not going to try to work on a car with that stuff on, I have a jump suit that I can grease around in.”

“Really?”

She blushed again, “Yes. It’s blue and has a rainbow on it.”

Bhrade laughed, “That’s so adorable, I wanna see it.”

“My brother says I look like a Care Bear.”

“Care Bears are cute!”

“Maybe I’ll show it to you someday.” She looked up and smiled at him.

He leaned down quickly to kiss her on the cheek, “I’m looking forward to it.”

Bailey scooted closer to him, wrapping her arms around herself.

“Hey, are you cold? I brought a couple blankets.” He reached over the seat and procured a soft red blanket. He helped her settle it around her shoulders, “There you go.”

“Thanks, you’re really thoughtful.”

“Actually, Leith told me to bring blankets...but for a different reason I think...”

Bailey shifted a little, “Oh.”

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to say it like that...that’s just Leith, sorry.”

“No, it’s okay, I mean...his reason could have some validity...you always want to be prepared right?”

“Yep.” He glanced up at the screen, the movie was starting, “Yep...always be prepared.”

-

Bhrade had relaxed, the movie was coming to a close and they were in the middle of the final suspenseful action sequence. He had an arm draped around her shoulders and one of her hands gripped his knee tightly. She was more entertaining to watch than the movie, she would lean forward slowly until she was almost all the way off the seat as the suspense built up and then slam back when the something exploded or guns started firing. The screen showed the lead with a gun to his head and Bailey’s hand tightened on his leg until her knuckles were white, she flinched when he got pistol-whipped. She settled back for the hundredth time and leaned on his shoulder with a small smile on her face.

Bhrade loved how animated she was, she kept her heart on her sleeve and her face showed her emotions clear as day. Jaide had warned him that because she was so open she had gotten her heart broken several times in the past few years and she was finally learning not to fall to hard for guys.

Just as the movie ended a woman died and Bailey started to tear up. Bhrade had to admit that it was pretty sad, mostly because of the cute little toddler screaming for his mom. He hugged Bailey tighter while she wiped her eyes.

“Sorry, god, I’m terrible.”

“Nah, I think your adorable.” He pressed a kiss to her temple and she smiled at him.

“No, you’re adorable.”

“Bail, guys aren’t supposed to be adorable. That’s very un-macho.”
She nodded seriously, “Right, okay, you are very...uh, stud-ley? And...handsome and Fabio-esque.”

“Who's Fabio?” he asked, confused.

Bailey just laughed a little, “Never mind.”

He shrugged, “You ready to blow this Popsicle stand?”

She situated herself and handed him the empty container of fries and the two empty milkshakes to toss into the trash can beside the car.

“Hey, we forgot to eat our Sour Patch Kids!” She said, pulling the box off the dash.

“Well, crack those puppies open baby, we’ll eat them in record time.” He whipped out of the parking spot and raced a Camaro to the exit of the drive-up theater.

“Bhrade!” Bailey gripped his leg hard as he spun dirt at the other car.

“What?”

“What are you doing? They are going to get mad and call the cops on us or something.”

Bhrade laughed, “No way, that’s my friend Charlie.” He honked at the car who flashed his lights back and then spun around, throwing dirt at them.

“Are you sure?” she ask warily.

“Yes, I'm positive.” He looked down and saw she was genuinely worried about it, “Sorry. Would it make you feel better if we go talk to them?”

“Yes.”

“Okie dokie,” He honked again and took off after to Camaro, he caught up to it before it got to exit and flashed his lights, getting it to stop. He pulled the Mustang up alongside it and rolled down his window.

“Hey Charlie!”

The guy in the other car laughed, leaning around a girl in the passenger seat he waved at Bhrade, “You fucker, I just washed her.”

“Same, you with a date?”

“You know it, this is Charlene.”

“Charlene and Charlie? That’s weird.”

“Yeah, yeah, what about that cute little thing you got there?”

Bhrade smiled and leaned back so Bailey was visible, “This is Bailey.”

“Bhrade and Bailey? That’s weird too.”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever, how’s that piece running?” he asked, nodding towards the car’s engine.

“Like a charm, when are you going to come over from the dark side? A Ford? Come on, I got friend with a Camaro like this I bet he’d sell you for cheap.”

Bailey rolled her eyes, “And lose almost 60 horsepower and gain half a ton? Why would he want to do something like that?”

Bhrade and Charlie both laughed.

“Ahh, I see what you go going on Bhrade, get your girl to bash my car? That’s low.”

Bhrade held up his hands innocently, “Hey now, that’s all her.”

Charlie smiled, “Do you know what kinda engine this things got?” he asked Bailey

Bailey shrugged, “Sounds...5.7 liter big block V8,”

Charlie looked a little shocked but she just laughed, “What, you’re trying to pass it off as the 6.5 liter? No way pal.”

“Okay, you got me there, but that’s the same size as what that Ford's got under the hood.”

“Nope, this guy’s got the 7 liter V8, Police Interceptor style.”

“Whhhat? How many ponies?”

425. Can you say Shelby GT500 King of the Road?”

“Shhhit.”

“Shit’s right, this Ford would leave that piece in the dust.”

“Bhrade, where’d you get this girl?”

He just smiled, “None of your business Charlie. Are you done getting your ass kicked by her or do you wanna hang around for longer?”

“Nah, I’m done. I’ll catch you later. It was nice to meet you Bailey!”

Bailey waved and Charlie drove away.

Bhrade just smiled at Bailey who sat awkwardly for a moment, he opened his mouth and then shut it again. Bailey glanced around and then down at the candy in her lap.

“Do you...do you want to drive?” Bhrade asked.

“Really?” her eyes lit up and she smiled, “Can I?”

“Of course.” He made sure it was in neutral before getting out of the car, he got back into the passenger seat, Bailey was now sitting behind the wheel.

She gripped the wheel with a big smile on her face, “Do I need to double clutch?”

“Nah, she’s smooth.”

She kept the smile on her face as she slid it into gear and took off, “We don’t need to go back right away, do we?”

“Nope, take her for a spin.” He popped a couple Sour Patch Kids into his mouth, it was cute how much she loved driving the car.

She revved the engine a little as she waited for an opening in traffic, “There’s a cute little park on the other side of town, can we go there?”

“You’re the one behind the wheel, sweetheart.”

She beamed him the most amazing smile, “You are the best.”

“Why didn’t you just tell me you wanted to drive?” he asked.

She shrugged and hit the gas when the light turned yellow, “I like watching you drive...it’s sexy.”

She kept her eyes on the road but Bhrade saw her mouth twitch and her thumb tapping the gear shifter.

He knew what she meant as he watched her left foot go the floor, her arm flexed slightly as she shifted the car into second gear, “You're right...it is sexy."

He could see her blush even in the dim light, he let her drive in silence for while.

Then a thought came to him, “Heyyy now, do you just like me for my car?” he teased.

“Nooo, you know that’s not true. That’s like saying you only like me for my body.”

“Which is so not true either, even though your body is perfect.”

“Well I dunno about that.”

“I said, it's perfect.” Bhrade re-stated.

“I don’t have any hips, I’m like a boy or something.”

“Yep, just like a boy.”

She didn’t say anything.

“Oh please. You are not that insecure about your body.” He leaned toward her.

Bailey didn’t say anything as she pulled into the empty parking lot of the park and turned the car off.

“Bailey?”

“Hmm?” she asked, not looking at him.

“I was joking, you do not look like a boy.”

“Okay.” But it wasn’t okay, it was obviously really bothering her.

He could tell that he was on the verge of messing up. Bad.

“Bailey, come--” He reached for her arm but she pulled it away.

Bhrade sat back for a moment, giving her a little space to calm down, she was tense and hurt.

A few minutes later when he figured she was a little calmer her spoke, “I am so sorry that you thought I was serious. You’re beautiful Bailey, I didn’t mean to say you looked like a boy.”

“I know...I’m sorry, I’m so...dumb. It’s just--never mind.”

“No, say it, it's fine.”

“You don’t want to hear about my old boyfriends, this is only our second date.”

“Well, more like our third...but I feel like I know you better than that. So go on, say what you were going to say, I’m listening.”

“It’s just that my last boyfriend-- he would say that all the time; that I looked like a boy, he said it as a joke except he actually meant it. He said...he said it was a good thing I had such a pretty face because otherwise he couldn’t be attracted to my boy body. When he dumped me he said that he did it so he could find at real girl."

Bhrade flinched, that was low, “Wow, that guy sounds like a total jerk. Didn’t you event tell him you didn’t like him saying that?”

“I did once, but he didn’t listen, he thought it was funny.”

“Well I’m really sorry Bailey, if I had known it was a sensitive subject for you I wouldn’t have said that.”

She shook her head and wrapped her arms around her torso. “Not your fault, that’s just me being dumb...but I mean it’s true so--”

“It’s not true.”

“Yes it--”

“No Bailey, you’re petite, you have a small frame; you’re not supposed to have giant hips.” He felt a little weird talking to her about this...was he supposed to be giving her body image advice? “I don’t know what that other guy’s problem was but I’m not having any trouble being attracted to your body.”

She smiled slowly and looked out the window for a moment before turning to him, looking more confident, “Prove it.”

He didn’t need any extra encouragement; he closed the distance between them quickly. Planting one hand on her seat and the other on the steering wheel, he leaned down to kiss her. She pulled away from the kiss after a moment, he waited, giving her a moment to decide what was gonna go down. He had the feeling that Bailey was the kind of girl that just a tiny amount of pressure, even if it was just perceived, would make her do things she’s wasn’t one hundred percent okay with; he wanted her to be one hundred percent okay with anything, and everything they did.

Bailey planted a hand on his chest and pushed him away from her. At first he thought it was rejection but then she crawled into the back seat, looking at him expectantly. He grinned and then hopped in the back as she spread the blanket over the seat.

“The leather is cold.” She said, tucking the fabric into the crease of the seat.

“We can fix that.” He put an arm around her and kissed her again, distracting her from her task.

He pushed her against the back of the seat as he kissed her, he didn’t want to get her on her back, his plan was to take it slow and let her set the pace, it only went as far as she wanted.

His plans were easier to think than to actually follow through with, he found this out when her hands pushed into his hair and pulled his face closer. His legs straddled hers as he knelt over her on the seat. He slipped a hand under the hem of her shirt but didn’t try to go any farther, he just wanted to feel her soft skin.

Bailey pulled her lips from his slowly and slid her hand to his chest, putting only a little pressure on it. He didn’t pull away, just kissed her forehead and waited for her to be ready again.

“Bhrade?”

“Yep?”

“Slow.”

“As slow as you want sweetheart, when you want to be done just let me know, we’re not in a hurry.”

She nodded, “It’s...it’s been a while okay?”

Bhrade sighed, he felt like was over-powering her or something, leaning over her like this. With a quick move he switched positions with her, setting her on his knees, putting her in control.

“Whatever you’re comfortable with.” He slid his hands down so they rested on her supposedly boy hips. “You know...these are really nice actually. They match your body, very adorable.”

She smiled and looked down, fiddling with the hem of his shirt.

“If you don’t like the shirt it can get gone.” He offered.

“Yeah?”

He gripped the collar of the shirt behind his neck and pulled it off, tossing it into the front seat.

She traced his abs with a finger slowly while he fought to stay in control.

“Your hands are cold.”

“Sorry.” She pulled her hand away.

“It’s okay.” He slid both his hands up the back of her shirt and pulled her body closer.

She shifted a little on his lap, allowing her torso to be flush with his, “You’re so warm.” She said, her lips only an inch away from his.

“We can get you warmed up too.” He ducked his head to kiss her neck and throat.

“Let’s do that.” She said, putting her arms around his neck and leaned her head back, letting him kiss her.

-

Ten minutes later Bailey was on her back under Bhrade, she had just her small undershirt on now and Bhrade was working on the zipper of her jeans. Once he got it down he turned his attention back to her lips and kissed her slowly.

Bailey’s hands tugged at his jeans and then fumbled to undo his belt. She got it opened and Bhrade pulled his lips away. He rested his forehead against hers as they both took a much needed breath. He let her work on the button to his jeans alone, he wanted her to be in control of this. Once his jeans were undone she wrapped one leg around his waist, pulling him against her.

She kissed his neck and jaw fervently and used both hands to draw him closer.

Bhrade pushed a hand under her shirt and stroked the skin of her waist, closing his eyes as her lips left a warm trail of kissed along his collar bone.

He moved his hand from her waist to her stomach and then slid his fingers under the loose denim of her jeans, curving his hand along the side of her hip. His hand slid further around her hips, pushing her jeans down a little farther as he caressed her low back.

Bailey’s kisses slowed and then stopped, she was hesitating. He waited to see what she was going to do but when she didn’t make a move he lifted his head to look into her eyes.

Right away he could tell she was done, this was as far as she was comfortable going right now. He kissed her lips but didn’t say a word as he tugged her jeans back up and then redid the zipper and button.

She looked really worried, “Bhrade...I’m sor--”

“Shhh.” He kissed her again before sitting up to re-zip his jeans and buckle his belt. He grabbed his shirt and pulled it back over his head, tugging it down to cover his abs.

She hadn’t moved from her spot on the seat, on her back, just looking at the roof of his car. He dropped back down and kissed her quickly before sliding both arms around her and rolling them over so that she lay on top of him.

“How about we relax for a sec?” he said as he rubbed his hand up and down the length of her back.

She nodded and rested her cheek on his chest.

A few minutes later she seemed to be ready to talk, she leaned back to cross her arms on his chest and rest her chin on top of them. She didn’t talk though, she just looked at him, she still looked worried.

“Whatcha lookin' like it’s the end of the world for?” he asked, ruffling her hair a little.

“I’m really sorry Bhrade, I--”

“I wish you would stop saying that.”

“Okay...” she bit her lip, “How about, 'Bhrade you are the coolest guy in the world'?”

“That sounds nice, on what grounds?”

“In case you haven’t noticed, I have no resistance to pressure. You could have gotten me to do that easy and you know it. But you didn’t. I mean...you knew I was done before I knew I was done.”

He smiled and looked around, all the windows of his car were fogged up, “Yeah, well, don’t get me wrong, I love sex as much as the next guy but my world doesn’t revolved around it, I want a solid friendship first. This is our first real date anyways.”

“True. I’ve never done anything like this with a guy that wasn’t my boyfriend.”

His face lit up, “Are you asking?”

“Maybe.”

“Cause the answer is yes.”

“Well in that case, my question was ‘will you be my boyfriend?’.”

“Perfect. See? I was ahead of you again.”

“You’re good.”

Bhrade shifted and pushed his foot against the opposite side of his car, “Wow, my backseat is really small.”

“I told you, the '68s have tiny back seats.”

“You’re the psycho that hopped back here; the front seat was fine with me.”

“Shut up, who does it in the front seat? That’s just weird.” she said, a funny look on her face.

“You’re weird.” He shot back.

“You’re weird.” She said with a smile.

“Be quiet or I’ll seduce you.” he threatened with a smile on his face.

She grinned, “I like how you can make it into a joke.”

“I like how you can be so damn beautiful.”

She raised an eye brow, “I have a feeling that you are going to be an annoying boyfriend.”

He raised an eyebrow also, “I have a feeling that you are beautiful.”

“Wow, you’re good at this.”

“Wow, you’re good at being beautiful.”

“Okay that’s enough.”

“Okay, that’s enough of being beautiful.”

“Stop saying that word.”

"Stop being beautiful."

"Bhrade!"

“Bailey!" he grinned as she glared, "Beautiful Bailey."
