“Lets get the fuck out of here!”

Terrified voices echoed through the halls as crowds of people dressed in white push and shove out of their offices and colliding into each other. Rushing towards what they hope was salvation, until they discovered that the building entered into lock down mode. Panic began to increase as they continuously beat the five inch thick glass door. Tears shed as they look back with nothing but fear and despair in their eyes.

Blood was spilled all over the marble tiles, doors, and over furniture. Power stopped flowing in that sector. Nothing was visible anymore.

“Do you think we should cancel the project?” asked a tall pale man. His glasses shined from the brightness of the computer.

“And miss a chance of a life time? I rather not…” Replied another, having a much demanding voice. His face bandaged up in clean bandaids. “Just keep that area in quarantine and continue with the research.”

“But sir, theirs people up on the surface. What if it gets out?”

“Well, maybe our old projects will be able to withstand it then.” He chuckled as he exited. “I know one thing for sure…theres no way Leo will make it out alive…” He whispered to himself entering the elevator. He chuckled as the door came to a close.

Chapter one

It was just one of those spring days. Bees are out from hiding and resuming their job. Furry creatures are nicely rested and frolicking around. As for the human species, that im still having troubles understanding, well apparently students are out cause of something called ‘Spring Break.’ Hmm, anyway Alice and her brother are off of ‘Collage’ for this break and are planning on heading somewhere nice. I wouldn’t mind a break. It’s only been a year, but I can still remember that forsaken event. That’s something im not going to write about it…

Leo immediately slammed his journal as he heard the door open. There were sounds of bags crumpling and a person grunting. Leo had no trouble knowing who it, she, was.

“Hey Alice.” He smiled trying to get a good look at her face. It was hard since her hair was unevenly shoved into her dark blue beanie. She turned angerly staring at the plastic bag that was held by her teeth her backpack in one hand and a duffle bag in the other.

“Freel free to help mre.” Leo stood out from the bed in the corner and took her bags with ease. A blast of freshly made orange chicken and rice cause Leo’s mouth to water since he hasn’t had anything to eat for quite sometime. “It’s good to see you hungry.” Alice smiled. Normally the two of them would make something. But since Alice is off in collage that became an impossible task. So for the past week, it’s been nothing but Chinese food. “Normally I order food and you only take one bite out of it. Leaving me with all of it.” Leo couldn’t help but shrug with a small grin.

“Sorry, I just can last longer without eating than humans.” He said pulling out the small styrofoam packages. They made alight screech as he pops them open. Releasing the steam that had been trapped inside.

“Yea Yea don’t give me those excuses. Hungry or not your going to help me finish this.”

“Ok I haven’t eaten anything for about five months now.” He said brushing his silver white hair out of his green eyes.

“I guess time goes by when you’re at collage.” She said taking out a couple of plastic forks, plunging it into the beef. Letting some of the juices leak from it. “Im passing English finally, we had to write a paper about past experiences. So I choose that event that happened to us year ago.”

“Im not surprised.” Leo smiled, picking up some rice and shoving it into his mouth.

“He wanted to hear more cause I stopped at the part where you fight Project-002”

“Celeus?”

“Yea, I made sure it had explicit detail. And I got an A”

“I don’t see the importance of these letters they put on your papers.” Leo said glancing at Alice’s desk. Covered with books some of them opened, scattered sheets of paper and crumbled paper on the floor. Pens scattered everywhere, drawer barely open. One them was bent inwards from Leo stubbing his toe against it. Which didn’t hurt him, but he damaged a bran new desk in less than a week.

“Your going to have to learn sooner or later if you want a job.” Leo knew what job was, well sort of. All he knew that it was a place were other people got out and did something that related to that store. He thought about the jobs he would be good for, which isn’t much if your considered to be a weapon. Leo shrugged as they both finished up the last bit of rice.

Time barely went by, but it felt like it was forever. Alice laid in Leo’s arms as they sat on the floor. Her beanie was tossed aside, and her hair was free. Parts of the back were longer than other since she purposely hacked some of it off. Stuffing the longer threads of her hair into her beanie if she went into public. Leo was surprised to learn this during their crazy incident back at Nemi. Corp’s island. Which was reduced to nothing but a pile of rubble.

The ticking of the clock echoed through the silent dorm room. Strangely, it’s the good kind of silence. The kinds were you don’t need to say a word to ruin the moment. Leo tried to savor whatever time he could get with her. Since she was constantly working on something whether it would be a research paper or math problems that made algebra a walk in the park. Leo pulled his arms closer gently, pressing her body against his. She smiled sighing heavily in content. The last thing she wanted was to leave.

Nightfall finally arrived and Alice was working on her papers. Leo was working on his right arm. Alice’s brother, Bryant, took the position of Nemi. Corp’s invention division. Occasionally, Leo would receive new upgrades or a new part. Nemi. Corp used to be a medical research facility. Shipping off more than thousands of legal drugs. But, another part was in weapon design. The very place where Leo, and forth other projects were born. Alice’s and Bryant’s father was in charge of the entire team. But, due to the recent watch from the government. Nemi Corp is only allowed to design weapons that don’t come from experimenting humans or anything else that could be proven dangerous. Today’s upgrade was to increase Leo’s precision when handling a knife. A line was hooked up from a drive to his arm as it installs the program. A light was flashing a bright red then turned green as a sign that it was complete.

“Agh! I hate doing all this work.” Alice complained tossing arms into the air before she starts pulling on her own hair. Leo smiled as he closes the cover on his right arm. Picking up a combat knife that came with the package, testing out his new skill. He didn’t find it impressive since he could use any gun with no problem.

“Sorry I can’t help.” He said glancing at her work. Science was never his thing let alone physics.

“Well you can jump out the window and I can time you on how fast you will fall.” She joked as she glanced back and forth from one textbook to another.

“Don’t know how me getting hurt will help you in anyway.”

“Oh don’t be a pansy. A build collapsed on top of you and you still survived.”

“I guess…maybe we should head out and do something tomorrow. You know? Get away from the work. I mean you did get off of collage and now your on spring break. Whatever that means.” For a moment Alice stopped writing, taking a deep sigh and slammed her book hard.

“Your right, I should be relaxing.” She smiled walking up to Leo and gave him a quick hug. “Have anything in mind?”

“Why you asking me? I barely know what anything you people name.”

“Maybe we should just head to the mall. Maybe something will come around while were walking around.” She smiled giving him a peck on the lips and walked towards her room, shutting the lights off.
