Take a penny, leave a penny
Tell me how this tastes
When I’m feeling lonely
I think about your face
When the sun is shining
I soak up all the glow
And when the clouds start crying
At least it isn’t snow

Take a penny, leave a penny
Give me all your money
The label may say poison but
To me it tastes like honey
My pockets might be empty but
It’s ‘cause they’re filled with holes
I’d sleep beneath the bridge but
I’m afraid of all the trolls

Take a penny, leave a penny
Thank you for your service
I’d like to shake your hand but
Human contact makes me nervous
I’d like to travel backward but
I’m scared I might get stuck
I think about it often but
I never test my luck
